1Chapter 9 — Honour the bishop.

2Além disso, está de acordo com a razão que devemos retornar à sobriedade de conduta e, enquanto ainda temos oportunidade, exercer arrependimento para com Deus.

2Moreover, it is in accordance with reason that we should return to soberness of conduct, and, while yet we have opportunity, exercise repentance towards God.

3É bom reverenciar a Deus e ao bispo.

3It is well to reverence both God and the bishop.

4Quem honra o bispo foi honrado por Deus; quem faz alguma coisa sem o conhecimento do bispo, na realidade serve ao diabo.

4He who honours the bishop has been honoured by God; he who does anything without the knowledge of the bishop, does in reality serve the devil.

5Que todas as coisas, então, abundem para vocês pela graça, pois vocês são dignos.

5Let all things, then, abound to you through grace, for ye are worthy.

6Vocês me refrescaram em todas as coisas, e Jesus Cristo os refrescará.

6Ye have refreshed me in all things, and Jesus Christ shall refresh you.

7Vocês me amaram tanto quando ausentes quanto quando presentes.

7Ye have loved me when absent as well as when present.

8Que Deus os recompense, por amor de quem, enquanto suportarem todas as coisas, vocês O alcançarão.

8May God recompense you, for whose sake, while ye endure all things, ye shall attain unto Him.

9Além disso, está de acordo com a razão que devemos retornar à sobriedade de conduta e, enquanto ainda temos oportunidade, exercer arrependimento para com Deus.

9Moreover, it is in accordance with reason that we should return to soberness of conduct, and, while yet we have opportunity, exercise repentance towards God.

10Pois “no Hades não há ninguém que possa confessar os seus pecados”.

10For "in Hades there is no one who can confess his sins".

11Pois “eis o homem, e a sua obra está diante dele”.

11For "behold the man, and his work is before him".

12E a Escritura diz: “Meu filho, honra a Deus e ao rei”.

12And the Scripture saith, "My son, honour thou God and the king".

13E digo eu: Honro a Deus, de fato, como o Autor e Senhor de todas as coisas, mas o bispo como o sumo sacerdote, que carrega a imagem de Deus - de Deus, na medida em que ele é um governante, e de Cristo, em sua qualidade de sacerdote.

13And say I, Honour thou God indeed, as the Author and Lord of all things, but the bishop as the high-priest, who bears the image of God—of God, inasmuch as he is a ruler, and of Christ, in his capacity of a priest.

14Depois Dele, devemos também honrar o rei.

14After Him, we must also honour the king.

15Pois não há ninguém superior a Deus, ou mesmo semelhante a Ele, entre todos os seres que existem.

15For there is no one superior to God, or even like to Him, among all the beings that exist.

16Nem há ninguém na Igreja maior do que o bispo, que ministra como sacerdote a Deus para a salvação do mundo inteiro.

16Nor is there any one in the Church greater than the bishop, who ministers as a priest to God for the salvation of the whole world.

17Também não há ninguém entre os governantes que possa ser comparado ao rei, que assegura a paz e a boa ordem àqueles sobre quem governa.

17Nor, again, is there any one among rulers to be compared with the king, who secures peace and good order to those over whom he rules.

18Quem honra o bispo será honrado por Deus, assim como quem o desonra será punido por Deus.

18He who honours the bishop shall be honoured by God, even as he that dishonours him shall be punished by God.

19Pois se aquele que se levanta contra os reis é justamente considerado digno de punição, na medida em que dissolve a ordem pública, de quanto castigo mais severo, suponhamos, será considerado digno aquele que presume fazer qualquer coisa sem o bispo, destruindo assim a unidade da Igreja e confundindo sua ordem? Pois o sacerdócio é o ponto mais alto de todas as coisas boas entre os homens, contra o qual todo aquele que é louco o suficiente para lutar, desonra não o homem, mas a Deus, e a Cristo Jesus, o Primogênito, e o único Sumo Sacerdote, por natureza, do Pai.

19For if he that rises up against kings is justly held worthy of punishment, inasmuch as he dissolves public order, of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who presumes to do anything without the bishop, thus both destroying the Church's unity, and throwing its order into confusion? For the priesthood is the very highest point of all good things among men, against which whosoever is mad enough to strive, dishonours not man, but God, and Christ Jesus, the First-born, and the only High Priest, by nature, of the Father.

20Portanto, todas as coisas sejam feitas por vocês com boa ordem em Cristo.

20Let all things therefore be done by you with good order in Christ.

21Que os leigos estejam sujeitos aos diáconos; os diáconos aos presbíteros; os presbíteros ao bispo; o bispo para Cristo, assim como Ele é para o Pai.

21Let the laity be subject to the deacons; the deacons to the presbyters; the presbyters to the bishop; the bishop to Christ, even as He is to the Father.

22Assim como vocês, irmãos, me refrescaram, Jesus Cristo também os refrescará.

22As ye, brethren, have refreshed me, so will Jesus Christ refresh you.

23Vocês me amaram quando ausentes e também quando presentes.

23Ye have loved me when absent, as well as when present.

24Deus irá recompensá-lo, por quem você mostrou tanta bondade para com Seu prisioneiro.

24God will recompense you, for whose sake ye have shown such kindness towards His prisoner.

25Pois mesmo que eu não seja digno disso, seu zelo em me ajudar é algo admirável.

25For even if I am not worthy of it, yet your zeal to help me is an admirable thing.

26Pois “aquele que honra um profeta na qualidade de profeta receberá galardão de profeta”.

26For "he who honours a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward".

27É manifesto também que aquele que honra um prisioneiro de Jesus Cristo receberá a recompensa dos mártires.

27It is manifest also, that he who honours a prisoner of Jesus Christ shall receive the reward of the martyrs.
