1Capítulo 8 — Nada se faça sem o bispo.

1Chapter 8 — Let nothing be done without the bishop.

2Cuidem para que todos sigam o bispo, assim como Jesus Cristo segue o Pai, e o presbitério como seguiriam os apóstolos; e reverenciar os diáconos, como sendo instituição de Deus.

2See that ye all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as ye would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God.

3Que ninguém faça nada relacionado com a Igreja sem o bispo.

3Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop.

4Que seja considerada uma Eucaristia adequada, administrada pelo bispo ou por alguém a quem ele a confiou.

4Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it.

5Onde quer que o bispo apareça, esteja também a multidão do povo; assim como, onde quer que Jesus Cristo esteja, aí está a Igreja Católica.

5Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude of the people also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.

6Não é lícito sem o bispo batizar ou celebrar uma festa de amor; mas tudo o que ele aprovar também será agradável a Deus, para que tudo o que for feito seja seguro e válido.

6It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.

7See that ye all follow the bishop, even as Christ Jesus does the Father, and the presbytery as ye would the apostles.

8Reverenciai também os diáconos, como aqueles que cumprem através do seu ofício a designação de Deus.

8Do ye also reverence the deacons, as those that carry out through their office the appointment of God.

10Que seja considerada uma Eucaristia adequada, administrada pelo bispo ou por alguém a quem ele a confiou.

10Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it.

11Onde quer que o bispo apareça, esteja também a multidão do povo; assim como onde Cristo está, ali está todo o exército celestial, esperando Nele como o Capitão-Chefe do poder do Senhor e o Governador de toda natureza inteligente.

11Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude of the people also be; even as where Christ is, there does all the heavenly host stand by, waiting upon Him as the Chief Captain of the Lord's might, and the Governor of every intelligent nature.

12Não é lícito sem o bispo batizar, ou oferecer, ou apresentar sacrifício, ou celebrar uma festa de amor.

12It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize, or to offer, or to present sacrifice, or to celebrate a love-feast.

13Mas aquilo que lhe parece bom também agrada a Deus, para que tudo o que vocês façam seja seguro e válido.

13But that which seems good to him, is also well-pleasing to God, that everything ye do may be secure and valid.
