1Capítulo 7 — Fiquemos distantes de tais hereges.

1Chapter 7 — Let us stand aloof from such heretics.

2Abstêm-se da Eucaristia e da oração, porque não confessam que a Eucaristia é a carne de nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo, que sofreu pelos nossos pecados e que o Pai, pela sua bondade, ressuscitou.

2They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again.

3Aqueles, portanto, que falam contra este dom de Deus, incorrem na morte no meio das suas disputas.

3Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes.

4Mas seria melhor para eles tratá-lo com respeito, para que também pudessem ressuscitar.

4But it were better for them to treat it with respect, that they also might rise again.

5É apropriado, portanto, que vocês se mantenham distantes de tais pessoas, e não falem delas em particular ou em público, mas dêem ouvidos aos profetas e, acima de tudo, ao Evangelho, no qual a paixão de Cristo nos foi revelada e a ressurreição foi plenamente provada.

5It is fitting, therefore, that ye should keep aloof from such persons, and not to speak of them either in private or in public, but to give heed to the prophets, and above all, to the Gospel, in which the passion of Christ has been revealed to us, and the resurrection has been fully proved.

6Mas evite todas as divisões, como o início dos males.

6But avoid all divisions, as the beginning of evils.

7Eles têm vergonha da cruz; eles zombam da paixão; eles fazem piada da ressurreição.

7They are ashamed of the cross; they mock at the passion; they make a jest of the resurrection.

8Eles são descendentes daquele espírito que é o autor de todo o mal, que levou Adão, por meio de sua esposa, a transgredir o mandamento, que matou Abel pelas mãos de Caim, que lutou contra Jó, que foi o acusador de Josué, filho de Josedeque, que procurou "peneirar a fé" dos apóstolos, que incitou a multidão dos judeus contra o Senhor, que também agora "opera nos filhos da desobediência; de quem o Senhor Jesus Cristo libertará nós, que oramos para que a fé dos apóstolos não falhasse, não porque Ele não fosse capaz de preservá-la por si mesmo, mas porque Ele se regozijava na preeminência do Pai.

8They are the offspring of that spirit who is the author of all evil, who led Adam, by means of his wife, to transgress the commandment, who slew Abel by the hands of Cain, who fought against Job, who was the accuser of Joshua the son of Josedech, who sought to "sift the faith" of the apostles, who stirred up the multitude of the Jews against the Lord, who also now "worketh in the children of disobedience; from whom the Lord Jesus Christ will deliver us, who prayed that the faith of the apostles might not fail, not because He was not able of Himself to preserve it, but because He rejoiced in the pre-eminence of the Father.

9É apropriado, portanto, que vocês se mantenham distantes de tais pessoas e não falem com elas nem em particular nem em público; mas para dar ouvidos à lei, e aos profetas, e aos que vos pregaram a palavra da salvação.

9It is fitting, therefore, that ye should keep aloof from such persons, and neither in private nor in public to talk with them; but to give heed to the law, and the prophets, and to those who have preached to you the word of salvation.

10Mas fujam de todas as heresias abomináveis, e daquelas que causam cismas, como o começo dos males.

10But flee from all abominable heresies, and those that cause schisms, as the beginning of evils.
