1Capítulo 7 — Cuidado com os falsos mestres.

1Chapter 7 — Beware of false teachers.

2Pois alguns têm o hábito de levar o nome de Jesus Cristo com perversa astúcia, enquanto ainda praticam coisas indignas de Deus, de quem vocês devem fugir como fariam com feras selvagens.

2For some are in the habit of carrying about the name of Jesus Christ in wicked guile, while yet they practise things unworthy of God, whom ye must flee as ye would wild beasts.

3Pois são cães vorazes, que mordem secretamente, contra os quais devemos estar atentos, visto que são homens que dificilmente podem ser curados.

3For they are ravening dogs, who bite secretly, against whom ye must be on your guard, inasmuch as they are men who can scarcely be cured.

4Há um Médico que é possuído tanto pela carne quanto pelo espírito; ambos feitos e não feitos; Deus existindo em carne; a verdadeira vida na morte; tanto de Maria como de Deus; primeiro passível e depois impassível - até mesmo Jesus Cristo, nosso Senhor.

4There is one Physician who is possessed both of flesh and spirit; both made and not made; God existing in flesh; true life in death; both of Mary and of God; first passible and then impassible,— even Jesus Christ our Lord.

5Mas algumas pessoas extremamente inúteis têm o hábito de levar o nome de Jesus Cristo com perversa astúcia, ao mesmo tempo que praticam coisas indignas de Deus e mantêm opiniões contrárias à doutrina de Cristo, para sua própria destruição e a daqueles que lhes dão crédito, a quem vocês devem evitar como fariam com feras selvagens.

5But some most worthless persons are in the habit of carrying about the name of Jesus Christ in wicked guile, while yet they practise things unworthy of God, and hold opinions contrary to the doctrine of Christ, to their own destruction, and that of those who give credit to them, whom you must avoid as ye would wild beasts.

6Pois “o justo que os evita é salvo para sempre; mas a destruição dos ímpios é repentina e motivo de alegria”.

6For "the righteous man who avoids them is saved for ever; but the destruction of the ungodly is sudden, and a subject of rejoicing".

7Pois “eles são cães burros, que não podem latir”, delirantes e mordendo secretamente, contra os quais vocês devem estar em guarda, já que sofrem de uma doença incurável.

7For "they are dumb dogs, that cannot bark," raving mad, and biting secretly, against whom ye must be on your guard, since they labour under an incurable disease.

8Mas nosso Médico é o único Deus verdadeiro, o ingênito e inacessível, o Senhor de tudo, o Pai e Gerador do Filho unigênito.

8But our Physician is the only true God, the unbegotten and unapproachable, the Lord of all, the Father and Begetter of the only-begotten Son.

9Temos também como Médico o Senhor nosso Deus, Jesus o Cristo, o Filho e Verbo unigênito, antes dos tempos, mas que depois se tornou também homem, de Maria, a virgem.

9We have also as a Physician the Lord our God, Jesus the Christ, the only-begotten Son and Word, before time began, but who afterwards became also man, of Mary the virgin.

10Pois “o Verbo se fez carne”.

10For "the Word was made flesh".

11Sendo incorpóreo, Ele estava no corpo; sendo impassível, Ele estava em um corpo passível; sendo imortal, Ele estava num corpo mortal; sendo vida, Ele se tornou sujeito à corrupção, para que pudesse libertar nossas almas da morte e da corrupção, curá-las e restaurá-las à saúde, quando estivessem doentes com impiedade e concupiscências perversas.

11Being incorporeal, He was in the body; being impassible, He was in a passible body; being immortal, He was in a mortal body; being life, He became subject to corruption, that He might free our souls from death and corruption, and heal them, and might restore them to health, when they were diseased with ungodliness and wicked lusts.
