1Capítulo 6 — Tenha respeito pelo bispo como pelo próprio Cristo.

1Chapter 6 — Have respect to the bishop as to Christ Himself.

2Ora, quanto mais alguém vê o bispo calado, mais deve reverenciá-lo.

2Now the more any one sees the bishop keeping silence, the more ought he to revere him.

3Porque devemos receber todo aquele que o dono da casa enviar para governar a sua casa, como faríamos com aquele que o enviou.

3For we ought to receive every one whom the Master of the house sends to be over His household, as we would do Him that sent him.

4É manifesto, portanto, que devemos olhar para o bispo assim como olharíamos para o próprio Senhor.

4It is manifest, therefore, that we should look upon the bishop even as we would upon the Lord Himself.

5E, de fato, o próprio Onésimo elogia grandemente sua boa ordem em Deus, que todos vivam de acordo com a verdade e que nenhuma seita tenha morada entre vocês.

5And indeed Onesimus himself greatly commends your good order in God, that ye all live according to the truth, and that no sect has any dwelling-place among you.

6Nem, de fato, dais ouvidos a ninguém, a não ser a Jesus Cristo falando a verdade.

6Nor, indeed, do ye hearken to any one rather than to Jesus Christ speaking in truth.

7Quanto mais, portanto, você vê o bispo em silêncio, mais você o reverencia.

7The more, therefore, you see the bishop silent, the more do you reverence him.

8Porque devemos receber todo aquele que o dono da casa enviar para governar a sua casa, como faríamos com aquele que o enviou.

8For we ought to receive every one whom the Master of the house sends to be over His household, as we would do Him that sent him.

9É manifesto, portanto, que devemos olhar para o bispo da mesma forma que olharíamos para o próprio Senhor, estando, como ele, diante do Senhor.

9It is manifest, therefore, that we should look upon the bishop even as we would look upon the Lord Himself, standing, as he does, before the Lord.

10Pois “convém ao homem que olha cuidadosamente ao seu redor e é ativo em seus negócios, apresentar-se diante de reis, e não comparecer diante de homens preguiçosos”.

10For "it behoves the man who looks carefully about him, and is active in his business, to stand before kings, and not to stand before slothful men".

11E, de fato, o próprio Onésimo elogia grandemente sua boa ordem em Deus, que todos vivam de acordo com a verdade e que nenhuma seita tenha morada entre vocês.

11And indeed Onesimus himself greatly commends your good order in God, that ye all live according to the truth, and that no sect has any dwelling-place among you.

12Na verdade, não dais ouvidos a ninguém, a não ser a Jesus Cristo, o verdadeiro Pastor e Mestre.

12Nor indeed do ye hearken to any one rather than to Jesus Christ, the true Shepherd and Teacher.

13E vós sois, como Paulo vos escreveu, “um só corpo e um só espírito, porque também fostes chamados numa só esperança da fé.

13And ye are, as Paul wrote to you, "one body and one spirit, because ye have also been called in one hope of the faith.

14Visto que também «há um só Senhor, uma só fé, um só batismo, um só Deus e Pai de todos, que é sobre todos, e por todos, e em todos».

14Since also "there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all".

15Assim sois vós, tendo sido ensinados por tais instrutores, Paulo, o portador de Cristo, e Timóteo, o mais fiel.

15Such, then, are ye, having been taught by such instructors, Paul the Christ-bearer, and Timothy the most faithful.
