Inácio aos Efésios 5

1Capítulo 5 — O louvor da unidade.

1Chapter 5 — The praise of unity.

2Pois se neste breve espaço de tempo desfrutei de tal comunhão com o seu bispo - não quero dizer de natureza meramente humana, mas de natureza espiritual - quanto mais considero felizes vocês que estão tão unidos a ele como a Igreja está a Jesus Cristo, e como Jesus Cristo está ao Pai, para que todas as coisas possam concordar em unidade! Ninguém se engane: se alguém não estiver dentro do altar, está privado do pão de Deus.

2For if I in this brief space of time, have enjoyed such fellowship with your bishop — I mean not of a mere human, but of a spiritual nature—how much more do I reckon you happy who are so joined to him as the Church is to Jesus Christ, and as Jesus Christ is to the Father, that so all things may agree in unity! Let no man deceive himself: if any one be not within the altar, he is deprived of the bread of God.

3Pois se a oração de um ou dois possui tal poder, quanto mais a do bispo e de toda a Igreja! Aquele, portanto, que não se reúne com a Igreja, até por isso manifestou seu orgulho e se condenou.

3For if the prayer of one or two possesses such power, how much more that of the bishop and the whole Church! He, therefore, that does not assemble with the Church, has even by this manifested his pride, and condemned himself.

4Pois está escrito: “Deus resiste aos orgulhosos”.

4For it is written, "God resisteth the proud".

5Tenhamos cuidado, então, de não nos opormos ao bispo, para que possamos estar sujeitos a Deus.

5Let us be careful, then, not to set ourselves in opposition to the bishop, in order that we may be subject to God.

6Pois se eu, neste breve espaço de tempo, desfrutei de tal comunhão com o seu bispo - quero dizer, não de natureza meramente humana, mas de natureza espiritual - quanto mais eu considero vocês felizes, que dependem dele tanto quanto a Igreja faz do Senhor Jesus, e o Senhor faz de Deus e Seu Pai, para que todas as coisas possam concordar em unidade! Ninguém se engane: se alguém não estiver dentro do altar, está privado do pão de Deus.

6For if I, in this brief space of time, have enjoyed such fellowship with your bishop — I mean not of a mere human, but of a spiritual nature—how much more do I reckon you happy, who so depend on him as the Church does on the Lord Jesus, and the Lord does on God and His Father, that so all things may agree in unity! Let no man deceive himself: if any one be not within the altar, he is deprived of the bread of God.

7Pois se a oração de um ou dois possui tal poder que Cristo está no meio deles, quanto mais a oração do bispo e de toda a Igreja, ascendendo em harmonia a Deus, prevalecerá para a concessão de todas as suas petições em Cristo! Aquele, portanto, que se separa deles, e não se encontra na sociedade onde os sacrifícios são oferecidos, e com "a Igreja dos primogênitos cujos nomes estão escritos no céu", é um lobo em pele de cordeiro, embora apresente uma aparência externa branda.

7For if the prayer of one or two possesses such power that Christ stands in the midst of them, how much more will the prayer of the bishop and of the whole Church, ascending up in harmony to God, prevail for the granting of all their petitions in Christ! He, therefore, that separates himself from such, and does not meet in the society where sacrifices are offered, and with "the Church of the first-born whose names are written in heaven," is a wolf in sheep's clothing, while he presents a mild outward appearance.

8Amados, tenhais o cuidado de estar sujeitos ao bispo, aos presbíteros e aos diáconos.

8Do ye, beloved, be careful to be subject to the bishop, and the presbyters and the deacons.

9Pois quem está sujeito a estes é obediente a Cristo, que os designou; mas quem é desobediente a estes é desobediente a Cristo Jesus.

9For he that is subject to these is obedient to Christ, who has appointed them; but he that is disobedient to these is disobedient to Christ Jesus.

10E “aquele que não obedece ao Filho não verá a vida, mas a ira de Deus permanece sobre ele”.

10And "he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him".

11Pois aquele que não obedece aos seus superiores é autoconfiante, briguento e orgulhoso.

11For he that yields not obedience to his superiors is self-confident, quarrelsome, and proud.

12Mas “Deus”, diz a Escritura, “resiste aos orgulhosos, mas dá graça aos humildes”; e, "Os orgulhosos transgrediram grandemente".

12But "God," says the Scripture "resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble;" and, "The proud have greatly transgressed".

13O Senhor também diz aos sacerdotes: “Quem vos ouve, a mim ouve; e quem me ouve, ouve o Pai que me enviou.

13The Lord also says to the priests, "He that heareth you, heareth Me; and he that heareth Me, heareth the Father that sent Me.

14Quem vos despreza, a Mim despreza; e quem me despreza, despreza aquele que me enviou”.

14He that despiseth you, despiseth Me; and he that despiseth Me, despiseth Him that sent Me".
