2Minha alma seja pela sua e pela deles que, para honra de Deus, vocês enviaram a Esmirna; por onde também vos escrevo, dando graças ao Senhor e amando Policarpo como amo vocês.

2My soul be for yours and theirs whom, for the honour of God, ye have sent to Smyrna; whence also I write to you, giving thanks unto the Lord, and loving Polycarp even as I do you.

3Lembre-se de mim, como Jesus Cristo também se lembrou de você.

3Remember me, as Jesus Christ also remembered you.

4Rezai pela Igreja que está na Síria, de onde sou conduzido com destino a Roma, sendo o último dos fiéis que lá estão, assim como fui considerado digno de ser escolhido para manifestar a honra de Deus.

4Pray ye for the Church which is in Syria, whence I am led bound to Rome, being the last of the faithful who are there, even as I have been thought worthy to be chosen to show forth the honour of God.

5Adeus em Deus Pai e em Jesus Cristo, nossa esperança comum.

5Farewell in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ, our common hope.

7Lembre-se de mim, como Jesus Cristo também se lembra de você, que é abençoado para sempre.

7Remember me, as Jesus Christ also remembers you, who is blessed for evermore.

8Rezai pela Igreja de Antioquia que está na Síria, de onde sou conduzido com destino a Roma, sendo o último dos fiéis que lá estão, que ainda foram considerados dignos de carregar estas cadeias para a honra de Deus.

8Pray ye for the Church of Antioch which is in Syria, whence I am led bound to Rome, being the last of the faithful that are there, who yet have been thought worthy to carry these chains to the honour of God.

9Passai bem em Deus Pai, e no Senhor Jesus Cristo, nossa esperança comum, e no Espírito Santo.

9Fare ye well in God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, our common hope, and in the Holy Ghost.
