1Chapter 19 — Three celebrated mysteries.

2Ora, a virgindade de Maria foi escondida do príncipe deste mundo, como também a sua descendência, e a morte do Senhor; três mistérios de renome, que foram realizados em silêncio por Deus.

2Now the virginity of Mary was hidden from the prince of this world, as was also her offspring, and the death of the Lord; three mysteries of renown, which were wrought in silence by God.

3Como, então, Ele foi manifestado ao mundo? Uma estrela brilhou no céu acima de todas as outras estrelas, cuja luz era inexprimível, enquanto sua novidade impressionava os homens com espanto.

3How, then, was He manifested to the world? A star shone forth in heaven above all the other stars, the light of which was inexpressible, while its novelty struck men with astonishment.

4E todas as demais estrelas, com o sol e a lua, formaram um coro para esta estrela, e sua luz era extremamente grande acima de todas elas.

4And all the rest of the stars, with the sun and moon, formed a chorus to this star, and its light was exceedingly great above them all.

5E houve agitação quanto à origem desse novo espetáculo, tão diferente de tudo o mais nos céus.

5And there was agitation felt as to whence this new spectacle came, so unlike to everything else in the heavens.

6Conseqüentemente, todo tipo de magia foi destruído e todo vínculo de maldade desapareceu; a ignorância foi removida e o antigo reino abolido, sendo o próprio Deus manifestado em forma humana para a renovação da vida eterna.

6Hence every kind of magic was destroyed, and every bond of wickedness disappeared; ignorance was removed, and the old kingdom abolished, God Himself being manifested in human form for the renewal of eternal life.

7E agora isso teve um começo que foi preparado por Deus.

7And now that took a beginning which had been prepared by God.

8Doravante todas as coisas estavam em tumulto, porque Ele meditava na abolição da morte.

8Henceforth all things were in a state of tumult, because He meditated the abolition of death.

9Ora, a virgindade de Maria foi escondida do príncipe deste mundo, como também a sua descendência, e a morte do Senhor; três mistérios de renome, que foram trabalhados em silêncio, mas que nos foram revelados.

9Now the virginity of Mary was hidden from the prince of this world, as was also her offspring, and the death of the Lord; three mysteries of renown, which were wrought in silence, but have been revealed to us.

10Uma estrela brilhou no céu acima de todas as que existiram antes dela, e sua luz era inexprimível, enquanto sua novidade impressionava os homens com espanto.

10A star shone forth in heaven above all that were before it, and its light was inexpressible, while its novelty struck men with astonishment.

11E todo o resto das estrelas, com o sol e a lua, formaram um coro para esta estrela.

11And all the rest of the stars, with the sun and moon, formed a chorus to this star.

12Excedia em muito todos eles em brilho, e sentia-se agitação quanto à origem desse novo espetáculo.

12It far exceeded them all in brightness, and agitation was felt as to whence this new spectacle proceeded.

13Conseqüentemente, a sabedoria mundana tornou-se uma loucura; a conjuração era vista como algo insignificante; e a magia tornou-se totalmente ridícula.

13Hence worldly wisdom became folly; conjuration was seen to be mere trifling; and magic became utterly ridiculous.

14Todas as leis da maldade desapareceram; a escuridão da ignorância foi dispersada; e a autoridade tirânica foi destruída, Deus sendo manifestado como homem, e o homem exibindo poder como Deus.

14Every law of wickedness vanished away; the darkness of ignorance was dispersed; and tyrannical authority was destroyed, God being manifested as a man, and man displaying power as God.

15Mas nem a primeira era uma mera imaginação, nem a segunda implicava uma humanidade nua; mas uma era absolutamente verdadeira e a outra um acordo económico.

15But neither was the former a mere imagination, nor did the second imply a bare humanity; but the one was absolutely true, and the other an economical arrangement.

16Agora isso recebeu um começo que foi aperfeiçoado por Deus.

16Now that received a beginning which was perfected by God.

17Doravante todas as coisas estavam em tumulto, porque Ele meditava na abolição da morte.

17Henceforth all things were in a state of tumult, because He meditated the abolition of death.
