1Chapter 10 — Exhortations to prayer, humility, etc.

2E orai sem cessar em favor de outros homens.

2And pray ye without ceasing in behalf of other men.

3Pois há neles esperança de arrependimento para que possam chegar a Deus.

3For there is in them hope of repentance that they may attain to God.

4Veja, então, que eles sejam instruídos por suas obras, se não de outra forma.

4See, then, that they be instructed by your works, if in no other way.

5Sede mansos em resposta à sua ira, humildes em oposição à sua jactância: às suas blasfêmias retornai as vossas orações; em contraste com o erro deles, sede firmes na fé; e por sua crueldade, manifeste sua gentileza.

5Be ye meek in response to their wrath, humble in opposition to their boasting: to their blasphemies return your prayers; in contrast to their error, be ye stedfast in the faith; and for their cruelty, manifest your gentleness.

6Embora tomemos cuidado para não imitar sua conduta, sejamos considerados seus irmãos com toda a verdadeira bondade; e procuremos ser seguidores do Senhor (quem foi tratado cada vez mais injustamente, mais desamparado, mais condenado?), para que nenhuma planta do diabo seja encontrada em vós, mas permaneçais em toda santidade e sobriedade em Jesus Cristo, tanto no que diz respeito à carne como ao espírito.

6While we take care not to imitate their conduct, let us be found their brethren in all true kindness; and let us seek to be followers of the Lord (who ever more unjustly treated, more destitute, more condemned?), that so no plant of the devil may be found in you, but ye may remain in all holiness and sobriety in Jesus Christ, both with respect to the flesh and spirit.

7E orai sem cessar em favor de outros homens; pois há esperança de arrependimento, para que possam chegar a Deus.

7And pray ye without ceasing in behalf of other men; for there is hope of the repentance, that they may attain to God.

8Pois "aquele que cai não pode se levantar novamente, e aquele que se perde retornar?" Permita que eles sejam instruídos por você.

8For "cannot he that falls arise again, and he that goes astray return?" Permit them, then, to be instructed by you.

9Sede vós, portanto, ministros de Deus e boca de Cristo.

9Be ye therefore the ministers of God, and the mouth of Christ.

10Pois assim diz o Senhor: “Se separardes o precioso do vil, sereis como a minha boca”.

10For thus saith the Lord, "If ye take forth the precious from the vile, ye shall be as my mouth".

11Sede humildes em resposta à ira deles; oponha às suas blasfêmias suas orações sinceras; enquanto eles se desviam, permanecei firmes na fé.

11Be ye humble in response to their wrath; oppose to their blasphemies your earnest prayers; while they go astray, stand ye stedfast in the faith.

12Conquiste seu temperamento severo com a gentileza, sua paixão com a mansidão.

12Conquer ye their harsh temper by gentleness, their passion by meekness.

13Pois "bem-aventurados os mansos"; e Moisés foi manso acima de todos os homens; e Davi era extremamente manso.

13For "blessed are the meek;" and Moses was meek above all men; and David was exceeding meek.

14Por isso Paulo exorta o seguinte: “O servo do Senhor não deve contender, mas ser manso para com todos os homens, apto para ensinar, paciente, instruindo com mansidão os que se opõem”.

14Wherefore Paul exhorts as follows: "The servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle towards all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves".

15Não procurem vingar-se daqueles que os prejudicam, pois diz a Escritura: “Se eu retribuí o mal a quem me retribuiu o mal”.

15Do not seek to avenge yourselves on those that injure you, for says the Scripture, "If I have returned evil to those who returned evil to me".

16Façamos deles irmãos pela nossa bondade.

16Let us make them brethren by our kindness.

17Pois dizei aos que vos odeiam: Vós sois nossos irmãos, para que o nome do Senhor seja glorificado.

17For say ye to those that hate you, Ye are our brethren, that the name of the Lord may be glorified.

18E imitemos o Senhor, "que, quando foi injuriado, não injuriou novamente"; quando Ele foi crucificado, Ele não respondeu; "quando Ele sofreu, Ele não ameaçou;" mas orou pelos Seus inimigos: "Pai, perdoa-lhes; eles não sabem o que fazem".

18And let us imitate the Lord, "who, when He was reviled, reviled not again;" when He was crucified, He answered not; "when He suffered, He threatened not;" but prayed for His enemies, "Father, forgive them; they know not what they do".

19Se alguém, quanto mais ferido estiver, demonstrar mais paciência, abençoado será.

19If any one, the more he is injured, displays the more patience, blessed is he.

20Se alguém é defraudado, se alguém é desprezado, em nome do Senhor, esse é verdadeiramente servo de Cristo.

20If any one is defrauded, if any one is despised, for the name of the Lord, he truly is the servant of Christ.

21Tome cuidado para que nenhuma planta do diabo seja encontrada entre vocês, pois tal planta é amarga e salgada.

21Take heed that no plant of the devil be found among you, for such a plant is bitter and salt.

22“Vigiai e sede sóbrios”, em Cristo Jesus.

22"Watch ye, and be ye sober," in Christ Jesus.
