Hebreus 4

1Temamos, pois, que, porventura, deixada a promessa de entrar no seu repouso, pareça que algum de vós fica para trás.

1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left {us} of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2Porque também a nós foram pregadas as boas novas, como a eles, mas a palavra da pregação nada lhes aproveitou, porquanto não estava misturada com a fé naqueles que a ouviram.

2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard {it}. {the word...: Gr. the word of hearing} {not being...: or, because they were not united by faith to}

3Porque nós, os que temos crido, entramos no repouso, tal como disse:Assim jurei na minha ira Que não entrarão no meu repouso; embora as suas obras estivessem acabadas desde a fundação do mundo.

3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4Porque em certo lugar disse assim do dia sétimo: E repousou Deus de todas as suas obras no sétimo dia.

4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh {day} on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5E outra vez neste lugar:Não entrarão no meu repouso.

5And in this {place} again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6Visto, pois, que resta que alguns entrem nele, e que aqueles a quem primeiro foram pregadas as boas novas não entraram por causa da desobediência,

6Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: {it was: or, the gospel was}

7Determina outra vez um certo dia, Hoje, dizendo por Davi, muito tempo depois, como está dito: Hoje, se ouvirdes a sua voz, Não endureçais os vossos corações.

7Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8Porque, se Josué lhes houvesse dado repouso, não falaria depois disso de outro dia.

8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. {Jesus: that is, Joshua}

9Portanto, resta ainda um repouso para o povo de Deus.

9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. {rest: or, keeping of a sabbath}

10Porque aquele que entrou no seu repouso, ele próprio repousou de suas obras, como Deus das suas.

10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God {did} from his.

11Procuremos, pois, entrar naquele repouso, para que ninguém caia no mesmo exemplo de desobediência.

11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. {unbelief: or, disobedience}

12Porque a palavra de Deus é viva e eficaz, e mais penetrante do que espada alguma de dois gumes, e penetra até à divisão da alma e do espírito, e das juntas e medulas, e é apta para discernir os pensamentos e intenções do coração.

12For the word of God {is} quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and {is} a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13E não há criatura alguma encoberta diante dele; antes todas as coisas estão nuas e patentes aos olhos daquele com quem temos de tratar.

13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things {are} naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14Visto que temos um grande sumo sacerdote, Jesus, Filho de Deus, que penetrou nos céus, retenhamos firmemente a nossa confissão.

14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast {our} profession.

15Porque não temos um sumo sacerdote que não possa compadecer-se das nossas fraquezas; porém, um que, como nós, em tudo foi tentado, mas sem pecado.

15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as {we are, yet} without sin.

16Cheguemos, pois, com confiança ao trono da graça, para que possamos alcançar misericórdia e achar graça, a fim de sermos ajudados em tempo oportuno.

16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
