Hebreus 12

1Portanto nós também, pois que estamos rodeados de uma tão grande nuvem de testemunhas, deixemos todo o embaraço, e o pecado que tão de perto nos rodeia, e corramos com paciência a carreira que nos está proposta,

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset {us}, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2Olhando para Jesus, autor e consumador da fé, o qual, pelo gozo que lhe estava proposto, suportou a cruz, desprezando a afronta, e assentou-se à destra do trono de Deus.

2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of {our} faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {author: or, beginner}

3Considerai, pois, aquele que suportou tais contradições dos pecadores contra si mesmo, para que não enfraqueçais, desfalecendo em vossos ânimos.

3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4Ainda não resististes até ao sangue, combatendo contra o pecado.

4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5E já vos esquecestes da exortação que argumenta convosco como filhos: Filho meu, não desprezes a correção do Senhor, E não desmaies quando por ele fores repreendido;

5And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6Porque o Senhor corrige o que ama,E açoita a qualquer que recebe por filho.

6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7Se suportais a correção, Deus vos trata como filhos; porque, que filho há a quem o pai não corrija?

7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8Mas, se estais sem disciplina, da qual todos são feitos participantes, sois então bastardos, e não filhos.

8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9Além do que, tivemos nossos pais segundo a carne, para nos corrigirem, e nós os reverenciamos; não nos sujeitaremos muito mais ao Pai dos espíritos, para vivermos?

9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected {us}, and we gave {them} reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10Porque aqueles, na verdade, por um pouco de tempo, nos corrigiam como bem lhes parecia; mas este, para nosso proveito, para sermos participantes da sua santidade.

10For they verily for a few days chastened {us} after their own pleasure; but he for {our} profit, that {we} might be partakers of his holiness. {after...: or, as seemed good, or, meet to them}

11E, na verdade, toda a correção, ao presente, não parece ser de gozo, senão de tristeza, mas depois produz um fruto pacífico de justiça nos exercitados por ela.

11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

12Portanto, tornai a levantar as mãos cansadas, e os joelhos desconjuntados,

12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

13E fazei veredas direitas para os vossos pés, para que o que manqueja não se desvie inteiramente, antes seja sarado.

13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. {straight: or, even}

14Segui a paz com todos, e a santificação, sem a qual ninguém verá o Senhor;

14Follow peace with all {men}, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

15Tendo cuidado de que ninguém se prive da graça de Deus, e de que nenhuma raiz de amargura, brotando, vos perturbe, e por ela muitos se contaminem.

15Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble {you}, and thereby many be defiled; {fail...; or, fall from}

16E ninguém seja devasso, ou profano, como Esaú, que por uma refeição vendeu o seu direito de primogenitura.

16Lest there {be} any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

17Porque bem sabeis que, querendo ele ainda depois herdar a bênção, foi rejeitado, porque não achou lugar de arrependimento, ainda que com lágrimas o buscou.

17For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. {place...: or, way to change his mind}

18Porque não chegastes ao monte palpável, aceso em fogo, e à escuridão, e às trevas, e à tempestade,

18For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

19E ao sonido da trombeta, e à voz das palavras, a qual os que a ouviram pediram que se lhes não falasse mais;

19And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which {voice} they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

20Porque não podiam suportar o que se lhes mandava: Se até um animal tocar o monte será apedrejado ou passado com um dardo.

20(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

21E tão terrível era a visão, que Moisés disse: Estou todo assombrado, e tremendo.

21And so terrible was the sight, {that} Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

22Mas chegastes ao monte Sião, e à cidade do Deus vivo, à Jerusalém celestial, e aos muitos milhares de anjos;

22But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

23À universal assembléia e igreja dos primogênitos, que estão inscritos nos céus, e a Deus, o juiz de todos, e aos espíritos dos justos aperfeiçoados;

23To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, {written: or, enrolled}

24E a Jesus, o Mediador de uma nova aliança, e ao sangue da aspersão, que fala melhor do que o de Abel.

24And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than {that of} Abel. {covenant: or, testament}

25Vede que não rejeiteis ao que fala; porque, se não escaparam aqueles que rejeitaram o que na terra os advertia, muito menos nós, se nos desviarmos daquele que é dos céus;

25See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more {shall not} we {escape}, if we turn away from him that {speaketh} from heaven:

26A voz do qual moveu então a terra, mas agora anunciou, dizendo: Ainda uma vez comoverei, não só a terra, senão também o céu.

26Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

27E esta palavra: Ainda uma vez, mostra a mudança das coisas móveis, como coisas feitas, para que as imóveis permaneçam.

27And this {word}, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. {are shaken: or, may be shaken}

28Por isso, tendo recebido um reino que não pode ser abalado, retenhamos a graça, pela qual sirvamos a Deus agradavelmente, com reverência e piedade;

28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: {let...: or, let us hold fast}

29Porque o nosso Deus é um fogo consumidor.

29For our God {is} a consuming fire.
