Gênesis 15

1Depois destas coisas veio a palavra do SENHOR a Abrão em visão, dizendo: Não temas, Abrão, eu sou o teu escudo, o teu grandíssimo galardão.

1After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I {am} thy shield, {and} thy exceeding great reward.

2Então disse Abrão: Senhor DEUS, que me hás de dar, pois ando sem filhos, e o mordomo da minha casa é o damasceno Eliézer?

2And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house {is} this Eliezer of Damascus?

3Disse mais Abrão: Eis que não me tens dado filhos, e eis que um nascido na minha casa será o meu herdeiro.

3And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

4E eis que veio a palavra do Senhor a ele dizendo: Este não será o teu herdeiro; mas aquele que de tuas entranhas sair, este será o teu herdeiro.

4And, behold, the word of the LORD {came} unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

5Então o levou fora, e disse: Olha agora para os céus, e conta as estrelas, se as podes contar. E disse-lhe: Assim será a tua descendência.

5And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

6E creu ele no Senhor, e imputou-lhe isto por justiça.

6And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

7Disse-lhe mais: Eu sou o Senhor, que te tirei de Ur dos caldeus, para dar-te a ti esta terra, para herdá-la.

7And he said unto him, I {am} the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

8E disse ele: Senhor DEUS, como saberei que hei de herdá-la?

8And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

9E disse-lhe: Toma-me uma bezerra de três anos, e uma cabra de três anos, e um carneiro de três anos, uma rola e um pombinho.

9And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

10E trouxe-lhe todos estes, e partiu-os pelo meio, e pôs cada parte deles em frente da outra; mas as aves não partiu.

10And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.

11E as aves desciam sobre os cadáveres; Abrão, porém, as enxotava.

11And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.

12E pondo-se o sol, um profundo sono caiu sobre Abrão; e eis que grande espanto e grande escuridão caiu sobre ele.

12And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

13Então disse a Abrão: Saibas, de certo, que peregrina será a tua descendência em terra alheia, e será reduzida à escravidão, e será afligida por quatrocentos anos,

13And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land {that is} not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

14Mas também eu julgarei a nação, à qual ela tem de servir, e depois sairá com grande riqueza.

14And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

15E tu irás a teus pais em paz; em boa velhice serás sepultado.

15And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

16E a quarta geração tornará para cá; porque a medida da injustiça dos amorreus não está ainda cheia.

16But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites {is} not yet full.

17E sucedeu que, posto o sol, houve escuridão, e eis um forno de fumaça, e uma tocha de fogo, que passou por aquelas metades.

17And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. {a burning...: Heb. a lamp of fire}

18Naquele mesmo dia fez o Senhor uma aliança com Abrão, dizendo: « tua descendência tenho dado esta terra, desde o rio do Egito até ao grande rio Eufrates;

18In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

19E o queneu, e o quenezeu, e o cadmoneu,

19The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

20E o heteu, e o perizeu, e os refains,

20And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

21E o amorreu, e o cananeu, e o girgaseu, e o jebuseu.

21And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
