Gênesis 11

1E era toda a terra de uma mesma língua e de uma mesma fala.

1And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. {language: Heb. lip.} {speech: Heb. words}

2E aconteceu que, partindo eles do oriente, acharam um vale na terra de Sinar; e habitaram ali.

2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. {from...: or, eastward}

3E disseram uns aos outros: Eia, façamos tijolos e queimemo-los bem. E foi-lhes o tijolo por pedra, e o betume por cal.

3And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. {they said...: Heb. a man said to his neighbour} {burn...: Heb. burn them to a burning}

4E disseram: Eia, edifiquemos nós uma cidade e uma torre cujo cume toque nos céus, e façamo-nos um nome, para que não sejamos espalhados sobre a face de toda a terra.

4And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top {may reach} unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5Então desceu o Senhor para ver a cidade e a torre que os filhos dos homens edificavam;

5And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

6E o Senhor disse: Eis que o povo é um, e todos têm uma mesma língua; e isto é o que começam a fazer; e agora, não haverá restrição para tudo o que eles intentarem fazer.

6And the LORD said, Behold, the people {is} one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

7Eia, desçamos e confundamos ali a sua língua, para que não entenda um a língua do outro.

7Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

8Assim o Senhor os espalhou dali sobre a face de toda a terra; e cessaram de edificar a cidade.

8So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

9Por isso se chamou o seu nome Babel, porquanto ali confundiu o Senhor a língua de toda a terra, e dali os espalhou o Senhor sobre a face de toda a terra.

9Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. {Babel: that is, Confusion}

10Estas são as gerações de Sem: Sem era da idade de cem anos e gerou a Arfaxade, dois anos depois do dilúvio.

10These {are} the generations of Shem: Shem {was} an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

11E viveu Sem, depois que gerou a Arfaxade, quinhentos anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

11And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

12E viveu Arfaxade trinta e cinco anos, e gerou a Selá.

12And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

13E viveu Arfaxade depois que gerou a Selá, quatrocentos e três anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

13And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

14E viveu Selá trinta anos, e gerou a Éber;

14And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:

15E viveu Selá, depois que gerou a Éber, quatrocentos e três anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

15And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

16E viveu Éber trinta e quatro anos, e gerou a Pelegue.

16And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg: {Peleg: Gr. Phalec}

17E viveu Éber, depois que gerou a Pelegue, quatrocentos e trinta anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

17And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

18E viveu Pelegue trinta anos, e gerou a Reú.

18And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

19E viveu Pelegue, depois que gerou a Reú, duzentos e nove anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

19And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

20E viveu Reú trinta e dois anos, e gerou a Serugue.

20And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug: {Serug: Gr. Saruch}

21E viveu Reú, depois que gerou a Serugue, duzentos e sete anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

21And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

22E viveu Serugue trinta anos, e gerou a Naor.

22And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:

23E viveu Serugue, depois que gerou a Naor, duzentos anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

23And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

24E viveu Naor vinte e nove anos, e gerou a Terá.

24And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah: {Terah: Gr. Thara}

25E viveu Naor, depois que gerou a Terá, cento e dezenove anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.

25And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

26E viveu Terá setenta anos, e gerou a Abrão, a Naor, e a Harã.

26And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

27E estas são as gerações de Terá: Terá gerou a Abrão, a Naor, e a Harã; e Harã gerou a Ló.

27Now these {are} the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

28E morreu Harã estando seu pai Terá ainda vivo, na terra do seu nascimento, em Ur dos caldeus.

28And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

29E tomaram Abrão e Naor mulheres para si: o nome da mulher de Abrão era Sarai, e o nome da mulher de Naor era Milca, filha de Harã, pai de Milca e pai de Iscá.

29And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife {was} Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

30E Sarai foi estéril, não tinha filhos.

30But Sarai was barren; she {had} no child.

31E tomou Terá a Abrão seu filho, e a Ló, filho de Harã, filho de seu filho, e a Sarai sua nora, mulher de seu filho Abrão, e saiu com eles de Ur dos caldeus, para ir à terra de Canaã; e vieram até Harã, e habitaram ali.

31And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

32E foram os dias de Terá duzentos e cinco anos, e morreu Terá em Harã.

32And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
