Gálatas 3

1Ó insensatos gálatas! quem vos fascinou para não obedecerdes à verdade, a vós, perante os olhos de quem Jesus Cristo foi evidenciado, crucificado, entre vós?

1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2Só quisera saber isto de vós: recebestes o Espírito pelas obras da lei ou pela pregação da fé?

2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3Sois vós tão insensatos que, tendo começado pelo Espírito, acabeis agora pela carne?

3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4Será em vão que tenhais padecido tanto? Se é que isso também foi em vão.

4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if {it be} yet in vain. {so many: or, so great}

5Aquele, pois, que vos dá o Espírito, e que opera maravilhas entre vós, o faz pelas obras da lei, ou pela pregação da fé?

5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, {doeth he it} by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

6Assim como Abraão creu em Deus, e isso lhe foi imputado como justiça.

6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. {accounted: or, imputed}

7Sabei, pois, que os que são da fé são filhos de Abraão.

7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

8Ora, tendo a Escritura previsto que Deus havia de justificar pela fé os gentios, anunciou primeiro o evangelho a Abraão, dizendo: Todas as nações serão benditas em ti.

8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, {saying}, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9De sorte que os que são da fé são benditos com o crente Abraão.

9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

10Todos aqueles, pois, que são das obras da lei estão debaixo da maldição; porque está escrito: Maldito todo aquele que não permanecer em todas as coisas que estão escritas no livro da lei, para fazê-las.

10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed {is} every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11E é evidente que pela lei ninguém será justificado diante de Deus, porque o justo viverá pela fé.

11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, {it is} evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12Ora, a lei não é da fé; mas o homem, que fizer estas coisas, por elas viverá.

12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

13Cristo nos resgatou da maldição da lei, fazendo-se maldição por nós; porque está escrito: Maldito todo aquele que for pendurado no madeiro;

13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed {is} every one that hangeth on a tree:

14Para que a bênção de Abraão chegasse aos gentios por Jesus Cristo, e para que pela fé nós recebamos a promessa do Espírito.

14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15Irmãos, como homem falo; se a aliança de um homem for confirmada, ninguém a anula nem a acrescenta.

15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though {it be} but a man's covenant, yet {if it be} confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. {covenant: or, testament}

16Ora, as promessas foram feitas a Abraão e à sua descendência. Não diz: E às descendências, como falando de muitas, mas como de uma só: E à tua descendência, que é Cristo.

16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

17Mas digo isto: Que tendo sido a aliança anteriormente confirmada por Deus em Cristo, a lei, que veio quatrocentos e trinta anos depois, não a invalida, de forma a abolir a promessa.

17And this I say, {that} the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

18Porque, se a herança provém da lei, já não provém da promessa; mas Deus pela promessa a deu gratuitamente a Abraão.

18For if the inheritance {be} of the law, {it is} no more of promise: but God gave {it} to Abraham by promise.

19Logo, para que é a lei? Foi ordenada por causa das transgressões, até que viesse a posteridade a quem a promessa tinha sido feita; e foi posta pelos anjos na mão de um medianeiro.

19Wherefore then {serveth} the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; {and it was} ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

20Ora, o medianeiro não o é de um só, mas Deus é um.

20Now a mediator is not {a mediator} of one, but God is one.

21Logo, a lei é contra as promessas de Deus? De nenhuma sorte; porque, se fosse dada uma lei que pudesse vivificar, a justiça, na verdade, teria sido pela lei.

21{Is} the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

22Mas a Escritura encerrou tudo debaixo do pecado, para que a promessa pela fé em Jesus Cristo fosse dada aos crentes.

22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23Mas, antes que a fé viesse, estávamos guardados debaixo da lei, e encerrados para aquela fé que se havia de manifestar.

23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24De maneira que a lei nos serviu de aio, para nos conduzir a Cristo, para que pela fé fôssemos justificados.

24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster {to bring us} unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25Mas, depois que veio a fé, já não estamos debaixo de aio.

25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26Porque todos sois filhos de Deus pela fé em Cristo Jesus.

26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27Porque todos quantos fostes batizados em Cristo já vos revestistes de Cristo.

27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28Nisto não há judeu nem grego; não há servo nem livre; não há macho nem fêmea; porque todos vós sois um em Cristo Jesus.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29E, se sois de Cristo, então sois descendência de Abraão, e herdeiros conforme a promessa.

29And if ye {be} Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
