Fragmentos Antigos 2

1O Senhor está perto daqueles que se convertem a Ele, como está escrito no livro de Eldade e Medade, que profetizaram ao povo no deserto.

1The Lord is near unto them that turn to Him, as it is written in the book of Eldad and Modad, who prophesied to the people in the wilderness.

2Longe esteja de vós aquela escritura que diz: Miseráveis são os de ânimo dobre que duvidam em sua alma, os quais dizem: Estas coisas ouvimos também nos dias de nossos pais, e eis que envelhecemos e nenhuma delas nos sobreveio.

2Far be from you that scripture where it saith: Miserable are the double-minded which doubt in their soul, which say: These things we heard in our fathers' days also, and lo, we have grown old and nothing of these things hath befallen us.

3Ó insensatos, comparai-vos a uma árvore; tomai a videira: primeiro ela perde as folhas, depois surge o rebento, em seguida o fruto verde, e depois o cacho plenamente maduro.

3O foolish ones, compare yourselves to a tree; take the vine: first it sheddeth the leaf, then a shoot cometh, after that a sour berry, then a cluster fully ripe.

4Assim também o meu povo teve tribulações e aflições; depois, porém, receberá bens excelentes.

4So also my people hath had unquietnesses and afflictions: afterward it shall receive good things.
