Ezequiel 17

1E veio a mim a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:

1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2Filho do homem, propõe um enigma, e profere uma parábola para com a casa de Israel.

2Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;

3E disse: Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Uma grande águia, de grandes asas, de plumagem comprida, e cheia de penas de várias cores, veio ao Líbano e levou o mais alto ramo de um cedro.

3And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar: {divers...: Heb. embroidering}

4E arrancou a ponta mais alta dos seus renovos, e a levou a uma terra de mercancia; numa cidade de mercadores a pôs.

4He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.

5Tomou da semente da terra, e a lançou num solo frutífero; tomando-a, colocou-a junto às muitas águas, plantando-a como salgueiro.

5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed {it} by great waters, {and} set it {as} a willow tree. {planted...: Heb. put it in a field of seed}

6E brotou, e tornou-se numa videira muito larga, de pouca altura, virando-se para ela os seus ramos, porque as suas raízes estavam debaixo dela; e tornou-se numa videira, e produzia sarmentos, e brotava renovos.

6And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

7E houve mais uma grande águia, de grandes asas, e cheia de penas; e eis que esta videira lançou para ela as suas raízes, e estendeu para ela os seus ramos, desde as covas do seu plantio, para que a regasse.

7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

8Num bom campo, junto a muitas águas, estava ela plantada, para produzir ramos, e para dar fruto, a fim de que fosse videira excelente.

8It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine. {soil: Heb. field}

9Dize: Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Porventura há de prosperar? Não lhe arrancará as suas raízes, e não cortará o seu fruto, para que se seque? Para que sequem todas as folhas de seus renovos, e isto não com grande força, nem muita gente, para arrancá-la pelas suas raízes.

9Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.

10Mas, estando plantada, prosperará? Porventura, tocando-lhe vento oriental, de todo não se secará? Nas covas do seu plantio se secará.

10Yea, behold, {being} planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.

11Então veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

12Dize agora à casa rebelde: Não sabeis o que significam estas coisas? Dize: Eis que veio o rei de babilônia a Jerusalém, e tomou o seu rei e os seus príncipes, e os levou consigo para babilônia.

12Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these {things mean}? tell {them}, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;

13E tomou um da descendência real, e fez aliança com ele, e o fez prestar juramento; e tomou consigo os poderosos da terra,

13And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land: {taken an...: Heb. brought him to an oath}

14Para que o reino ficasse humilhado, e não se levantasse, embora, guardando a sua aliança, pudesse subsistir.

14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, {but} that by keeping of his covenant it might stand. {but...: Heb. to keep his covenant, to stand to it}

15Mas rebelou-se contra ele, enviando os seus mensageiros ao Egito, para que se lhe mandassem cavalos e muita gente. Porventura prosperará ou escapará aquele que faz tais coisas, ou quebrará a aliança, e ainda escapará?

15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such {things}? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?

16Vivo eu, diz o Senhor DEUS, que no lugar em que habita o rei que o fez reinar, cujo juramento desprezou, e cuja aliança quebrou, sim, com ele no meio de babilônia certamente morrerá.

16{As} I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place {where} the king {dwelleth} that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, {even} with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

17E Faraó, nem com grande exército, nem com uma companhia numerosa, fará coisa alguma com ele em guerra, levantando trincheiras e edificando baluartes, para destruir muitas vidas.

17Neither shall Pharaoh with {his} mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:

18Porque desprezou o juramento, quebrando a aliança; eis que ele tinha dado a sua mão; contudo fez todas estas coisas; não escapará.

18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these {things}, he shall not escape.

19Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Vivo eu, que o meu juramento, que desprezou, e a minha aliança, que quebrou, isto farei recair sobre a sua cabeça.

19Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; {As} I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.

20E estenderei sobre ele a minha rede, e ficará preso no meu laço; e o levarei a babilônia, e ali entrarei em juízo com ele por causa da rebeldia que praticou contra mim.

20And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.

21E todos os seus fugitivos, com todas as suas tropas, cairão à espada, e os que restarem serão espalhados a todo o vento; e sabereis que eu, o Senhor, o disse.

21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken {it}.

22Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Também eu tomarei um broto do topo do cedro, e o plantarei; do principal dos seus renovos cortarei o mais tenro, e o plantarei sobre um monte alto e sublime.

22Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set {it}; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant {it} upon an high mountain and eminent:

23No monte alto de Israel o plantarei, e produzirá ramos, e dará fruto, e se fará um cedro excelente; e habitarão debaixo dele aves de toda plumagem, à sombra dos seus ramos habitarão.

23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.

24Assim saberão todas as árvores do campo que eu, o Senhor, abati a árvore alta, elevei a árvore baixa, sequei a árvore verde, e fiz reverdecer a árvore seca; eu, o Senhor, o disse, e o fiz.

24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done {it}.
