Êxodo 4

1Então respondeu Moisés, e disse: Mas eis que não me crerão, nem ouvirão a minha voz, porque dirão: O SENHOR não te apareceu.

1And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.

2E o Senhor disse-lhe: Que é isso na tua mão? E ele disse: Uma vara.

2And the LORD said unto him, What {is} that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

3E ele disse: Lança-a na terra. Ele a lançou na terra, e tornou-se em cobra; e Moisés fugia dela.

3And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

4Então disse o Senhor a Moisés: Estende a tua mão e pega-lhe pela cauda. E estendeu sua mão, e pegou-lhe pela cauda, e tornou-se em vara na sua mão;

4And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:

5Para que creiam que te apareceu o Senhor Deus de seus pais, o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó.

5That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

6E disse-lhe mais o Senhor: Põe agora a tua mão no teu seio. E, tirando-a, eis que a sua mão estava leprosa, branca como a neve.

6And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand {was} leprous as snow.

7E disse: Torna a por a tua mão no teu seio. E tornou a colocar sua mão no seu seio; depois tirou-a do seu seio, e eis que se tornara como a sua carne.

7And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his {other} flesh.

8E acontecerá que, se eles não te crerem, nem ouvirem a voz do primeiro sinal, crerão à voz do derradeiro sinal;

8And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

9E se acontecer que ainda não creiam a estes dois sinais, nem ouvirem a tua voz, tomarás das águas do rio, e as derramarás na terra seca; e as águas, que tomarás do rio, tornar-se-ão em sangue sobre a terra seca.

9And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour {it} upon the dry {land}: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry {land}. {shall become: Heb. shall be and shall be}

10Então disse Moisés ao Senhor: Ah, meu Senhor! eu não sou homem eloqüente, nem de ontem nem de anteontem, nem ainda desde que tens falado ao teu servo; porque sou pesado de boca e pesado de língua.

10And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I {am} not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I {am} slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. {eloquent: Heb. a man of words} {heretofore: Heb. since yesterday, nor since the third day}

11E disse-lhe o Senhor: Quem fez a boca do homem? ou quem fez o mudo, ou o surdo, ou o que vê, ou o cego? Não sou eu, o Senhor?

11And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

12Vai, pois, agora, e eu serei com a tua boca e te ensinarei o que hás de falar.

12Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

13Ele, porém, disse: Ah, meu Senhor! Envia pela mão daquele a quem tu hás de enviar.

13And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand {of him whom} thou wilt send. {wilt: or, shouldest}

14Então se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra Moisés, e disse: Não é Arão, o levita, teu irmão? Eu sei que ele falará muito bem; e eis que ele também sai ao teu encontro; e, vendo-te, se alegrará em seu coração.

14And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, {Is} not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

15E tu lhe falarás, e porás as palavras na sua boca; e eu serei com a tua boca, e com a dele, ensinando-vos o que haveis de fazer.

15And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

16E ele falará por ti ao povo; e acontecerá que ele te será por boca, e tu lhe serás por Deus.

16And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, {even} he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.

17Toma, pois, esta vara na tua mão, com que farás os sinais.

17And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

18Então foi Moisés, e voltou para Jetro, seu sogro, e disse-lhe: Eu irei agora, e tornarei a meus irmãos, que estão no Egito, para ver se ainda vivem. Disse, pois, Jetro a Moisés: Vai em paz.

18And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which {are} in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace. {Jethro: Heb. Jether}

19Disse também o Senhor a Moisés em Midiã: Vai, volta para o Egito; porque todos os que buscavam a tua alma morreram.

19And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.

20Tomou, pois, Moisés sua mulher e seus filhos, e os levou sobre um jumento, e tornou à terra do Egito; e Moisés tomou a vara de Deus na sua mão.

20And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

21E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Quando voltares ao Egito, atenta que faças diante de Faraó todas as maravilhas que tenho posto na tua mão; mas eu lhe endurecerei o coração, para que não deixe ir o povo.

21And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

22Então dirás a Faraó: Assim diz o Senhor: Israel é meu filho, meu primogênito.

22And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel {is} my son, {even} my firstborn:

23E eu te tenho dito: Deixa ir o meu filho, para que me sirva; mas tu recusaste deixá-lo ir; eis que eu matarei a teu filho, o teu primogênito.

23And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, {even} thy firstborn.

24E aconteceu no caminho, numa estalagem, que o Senhor o encontrou, e o quis matar.

24And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

25Então Zípora tomou uma pedra aguda, e circuncidou o prepúcio de seu filho, e lançou-o a seus pés, e disse: Certamente me és um esposo sanguinário.

25Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast {it} at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband {art} thou to me. {sharp...: or, knife} {cast...: Heb. made it touch}

26E desviou-se dele. Então ela disse: Esposo sanguinário, por causa da circuncisão.

26So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband {thou art}, because of the circumcision.

27Disse o Senhor a Arão: Vai ao deserto, ao encontro de Moisés. E ele foi, e encontrou-o no monte de Deus, e beijou-o.

27And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.

28E relatou Moisés a Arão todas as palavras do Senhor, com que o enviara, e todos os sinais que lhe mandara.

28And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.

29Então foram Moisés e Arão, e ajuntaram todos os anciãos dos filhos de Israel.

29And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:

30E Arão falou todas as palavras que o Senhor falara a Moisés e fez os sinais perante os olhos do povo.

30And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

31E o povo creu; e quando ouviram que o Senhor visitava aos filhos de Israel, e que via a sua aflição, inclinaram-se, e adoraram.

31And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
