1Ao terceiro mês da saída dos filhos de Israel da terra do Egito, no mesmo dia chegaram ao deserto de Sinai,

1In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they {into} the wilderness of Sinai.

2Porque partiram de Refidim e entraram no deserto de Sinai, onde se acamparam. Israel, pois, ali se acampou em frente ao monte.

2For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come {to} the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

3E subiu Moisés a Deus, e o Senhor o chamou do monte, dizendo: Assim falarás à casa de Jacó, e anunciarás aos filhos de Israel:

3And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

4Vós tendes visto o que fiz aos egípcios, como vos levei sobre asas de águias, e vos trouxe a mim;

4Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and {how} I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

5Agora, pois, se diligentemente ouvirdes a minha voz e guardardes a minha aliança, então sereis a minha propriedade peculiar dentre todos os povos, porque toda a terra é minha.

5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth {is} mine:

6E vós me sereis um reino sacerdotal e o povo santo. Estas são as palavras que falarás aos filhos de Israel.

6And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These {are} the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

7E veio Moisés, e chamou os anciãos do povo, e expôs diante deles todas estas palavras, que o Senhor lhe tinha ordenado.

7And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.

8Então todo o povo respondeu a uma voz, e disse: Tudo o que o Senhor tem falado, faremos. E relatou Moisés ao Senhor as palavras do povo.

8And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

9E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Eis que eu virei a ti numa nuvem espessa, para que o povo ouça, falando eu contigo, e para que também te creiam eternamente. Porque Moisés tinha anunciado as palavras do seu povo ao Senhor.

9And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

10Disse também o Senhor a Moisés: Vai ao povo, e santifica-os hoje e amanhã, e lavem eles as suas roupas,

10And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

11E estejam prontos para o terceiro dia; porquanto no terceiro dia o Senhor descerá diante dos olhos de todo o povo sobre o monte Sinai.

11And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

12E marcarás limites ao povo em redor, dizendo: Guardai-vos, não subais ao monte, nem toqueis o seu termo; todo aquele que tocar o monte, certamente morrerá.

12And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, {that ye} go {not} up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

13Nenhuma mão tocará nele; porque certamente será apedrejado ou asseteado; quer seja animal, quer seja homem, não viverá; soando a buzina longamente, então subirão ao monte.

13There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether {it be} beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount. {trumpet: or, cornet}

14Então Moisés desceu do monte ao povo, e santificou o povo; e lavaram as suas roupas.

14And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

15E disse ao povo: Estai prontos ao terceiro dia; e não vos chegueis a mulher.

15And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at {your} wives.

16E aconteceu que, ao terceiro dia, ao amanhecer, houve trovões e relâmpagos sobre o monte, e uma espessa nuvem, e um sonido de buzina mui forte, de maneira que estremeceu todo o povo que estava no arraial.

16And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that {was} in the camp trembled.

17E Moisés levou o povo fora do arraial ao encontro de Deus; e puseram-se ao pé do monte.

17And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

18E todo o monte Sinai fumegava, porque o Senhor descera sobre ele em fogo; e a sua fumaça subiu como fumaça de uma fornalha, e todo o monte tremia grandemente.

18And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

19E o sonido da buzina ia crescendo cada vez mais; Moisés falava, e Deus lhe respondia em voz alta.

19And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

20E, descendo o Senhor sobre o monte Sinai, sobre o cume do monte, chamou o Senhor a Moisés ao cume do monte; e Moisés subiu.

20And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses {up} to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

21E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Desce, adverte ao povo que não traspasse o termo para ver o Senhor, para que muitos deles não pereçam.

21And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish. {charge: Heb. contest}

22E também os sacerdotes, que se chegam ao Senhor, se hão de santificar, para que o Senhor não se lance sobre eles.

22And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

23Então disse Moisés ao Senhor: O povo não poderá subir ao monte Sinai, porque tu nos tens advertido, dizendo: Marca termos ao redor do monte, e santifica-o.

23And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

24E disse-lhe o Senhor: Vai, desce; depois subirás tu, e Arão contigo; os sacerdotes, porém, e o povo não traspassem o termo para subir ao Senhor, para que não se lance sobre eles.

24And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

25Então Moisés desceu ao povo, e disse-lhe isto.

25So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.
