Evangelho de Nicodemos 5

1Entrando de novo no pretório, Pilatos chamou Jesus à parte e disse-lhe: 'És o rei dos judeus?'

1Entering the praetorium again, Pilate called Jesus aside and said to him: 'Are you the king of the Jews?'

2Jesus respondeu: 'Meu reino não é deste mundo, pois caso contrário, meus servidores teriam lutado.'

2Jesus answered: 'My kingdom is not of this world, for otherwise my servants would have fought.'

3Pilatos disse: 'Logo, tu és rei?' Jesus respondeu: 'Tu dizes que eu sou rei; pois para isto nasci e vim ao mundo, para que todo aquele que é da verdade, ouça minha voz.'

3Pilate said: 'So you are a king?' Jesus answered: 'You say that I am a king; for this I was born and came into the world, that everyone who is of the truth should hear my voice.'

4Pilatos disse-lhe: 'Que é a verdade?' Jesus respondeu: 'A verdade provém do céu.'

4Pilate said to him: 'What is truth?' Jesus answered: 'Truth comes from heaven.'

5E deixando Jesus, Pilatos foi até os judeus e lhes disse: 'Eu não encontro culpa alguma nele.'

5And leaving Jesus, Pilate went to the Jews and said to them: 'I find no fault in him.'

6Os judeus replicaram: 'Ele disse: Eu sou capaz de destruir este templo e reedificá-lo em três dias.'

6The Jews replied: 'He said: I am able to destroy this temple and rebuild it in three days.'

7Pilatos disse: 'Eu sou inocente do sangue deste justo; vós vereis.' E os judeus disseram: 'Seu sangue sobre nós e sobre nossos filhos.'

7Pilate said: 'I am innocent of the blood of this just man; you will see to it.' And the Jews said: 'His blood be upon us and upon our children.'
