1Este é o Evangelho dos Hebreus, o deleite especial daqueles dentre os hebreus que aceitaram o Messias.

1This is the Gospel of the Hebrews, the special delight of those among the Hebrews who accepted the Messiah.

2Este é o evangelho que os nazarenos usam, amplamente difundido entre os judeus.

2This is the gospel that the Nazarenes use, widely diffused among the Jews.

3É chamado de 'segundo os hebreus' por Jerônimo.

4Quando o Senhor subiu da água, toda a fonte do Espírito Santo desceu e repousou sobre ele.

4When the Lord came up from the water, the whole fountain of the Holy Spirit descended and rested upon him.

5O Espírito disse: 'Meu Filho, em todos os profetas eu te esperava, para que tu viesses e eu repousasse em ti.'

5The Spirit said: 'My Son, in all the prophets I was waiting for you, that you might come and I might rest in you.'

6'Pois tu és meu repouso; tu és meu Filho primogênito que reina para sempre.'

6'For you are my rest; you are my firstborn Son who reigns forever.'

7E houve uma grande luz naquele lugar.
