Evangelho de Bartolomeu 5

1Estavam os apóstolos em um lugar chamado Chiltura, com Maria, a Mãe de Jesus Cristo.

1The apostles were in a place called Chiltura, with Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ.

2Bartolomeu disse a Pedro, André e João: 'Por que não pedimos a Maria que nos diga como concebeu ao Senhor?'

2Bartholomew said to Peter, Andrew and John: 'Why do we not ask Mary to tell us how she conceived the Lord?'

3Bartolomeu acercou-se de Maria e disse: 'Deus te salve, Tabernáculo do Altíssimo!'

3Bartholomew approached Mary and said: 'God save you, Tabernacle of the Most High!'

4'Aqui viemos todos os apóstolos a perguntar-te como concebeste ao que é incompreensível.'

4'Here we have all come, we the apostles, to ask you how you conceived him who is incomprehensible.'

5Maria respondeu: 'Não me interrogueis acerca deste mistério. Se começar a falar-vos dele, sairá fogo de minha boca.'

5Mary answered: 'Do not question me about this mystery. If I begin to tell you about it, fire will come out of my mouth.'

6Maria disse a Pedro: 'Tu, que és chefe e grande pilar, por que estás de pé atrás de nós?'

6Mary said to Peter: 'You, who are the chief and great pillar, why do you stand behind us?'

7Maria colocou-se diante deles e elevando as mãos aos céus começou a orar ao Deus, o Grande, o Sapientíssimo.

7Mary placed herself before them and raising her hands to heaven began to pray to God, the Great, the Most Wise.
