Evangelho de Bartolomeu 3

1Disse-lhe Bartolomeu: 'Quem era aquele homem de talhe gigantesco a quem os anjos levavam em suas mãos?'

1Bartholomew said to him: 'Who was that man of gigantic stature whom the angels carried in their hands?'

2Jesus respondeu: 'Aquele era Adão, o primeiro homem que foi criado, a quem fiz descer do céu.'

2Jesus answered: 'That was Adam, the first man who was created, whom I caused to descend from heaven.'

3'E eu lhe disse: por ti e por teus descendentes fui pregado na cruz.'

3'And I said to him: for you and for your descendants I was nailed to the cross.'

4'Ele, ao ouvir isso, deu um suspiro e disse: assim, rendo-me a ti, Senhor.'

4'He, upon hearing this, gave a sigh and said: thus, I surrender myself to you, Lord.'

5Bartolomeu disse: 'Vi também os anjos que subiam diante de Adão e entoavam hinos.'

5Bartholomew said: 'I also saw the angels who ascended before Adam and sang hymns.'

6'Um deles, o mais esbelto de todos, tinha uma espada de fogo e fazia sinais a ti.'

6'One of them, the most slender of all, had a sword of fire and made signs to you.'

7Jesus disse: 'Era um dos anjos encarregados de vingar o trono de Deus.'

7Jesus said: 'He was one of the angels in charge of avenging the throne of God.'
