Evangelho de Bartolomeu 2

1Jesus respondeu: 'Feliz de ti, Bartolomeu, meu amado, porque te foi dado contemplar este mistério.'

1Jesus answered: 'Blessed are you, Bartholomew, my beloved, because it was given to you to behold this mystery.'

2'Quando desapareci da cruz, desci aos Infernos para dali tirar Adão e a todos que com ele se encontravam.'

2'When I disappeared from the cross, I descended to the Underworld to bring out Adam and all who were with him.'

3'Cedendo às súplicas do arcanjo Gabriel, desci com meus anjos ao Inferno para romper os ferrolhos.'

3'Yielding to the pleas of the archangel Gabriel, I descended with my angels to the Underworld to break the bolts.'

4Os anjos dirigiram seus clamores às potestades, dizendo: 'Levantai, ó príncipes, as portas eternas!'

4The angels directed their clamors to the powers, saying: 'Lift up, O princes, the everlasting gates!'

5E o Inferno disse: 'Quem é esse Rei da Glória que vem do céu a nós?'

5And the Underworld said: 'Who is this King of Glory who comes from heaven to us?'

6O Diabo disse: 'Não percas o ânimo, Inferno; Deus não desce à terra.'

6The Devil said: 'Do not lose heart, Underworld; God does not descend to earth.'

7O Inferno disse: 'Já sinto o sopro de Deus. Para nossa perdição, é chegado o fim de tudo.'

7The Underworld said: 'I already feel the breath of God. For our perdition, the end of all things has come.'
