1Morava então Mardoqueu na corte com Gabata e Tares, dois eunucos do rei, porteiros do palácio.

1And Mardocheus took his rest in the court with Gabatha and Tharra, the two eunuchs of the king, and keepers of the palace.

2Teve conhecimento de seus projetos e penetrou em seus desígnios; descobriu que eles se propunham a levantar a mão contra o rei Assuero e os denunciou.

2And he heard their devices, and searched out their purposes, and learned that they were about to lay hands upon Artexerxes the king; and so he certified the king of them.

3O rei fez o inquérito. Eles confessaram e foram conduzidos ao suplício.

3Then the king examined the two eunuchs, and after that they had confessed it, they were strangled.

4O rei mandou registrar esses acontecimentos na Crônica e Mardoqueu tomou também nota disso.

4And the king made a record of these things, and Mardocheus also wrote thereof.

5O rei lhe assinou uma função no seu palácio e em prêmio de seus serviços lhe fez presentes.

5So the king commanded, Mardocheus to serve in the court, and for this he rewarded him.

6Mas Amã, filho de Amadates, o agagita, que gozava da consideração do rei, odiava Mardoqueu e seu povo por causa dos dois eunucos reais que tinham sido condenados à morte.

6Howbeit Aman the son of Amadathus the Agagite, who was in great honour with the king, sought to molest Mardocheus and his people because of the two eunuchs of the king.
