Ester (Grego) 11

1No quarto ano do reino de Ptolomeu e de Cleópatra, Dositeu que se dizia sacerdote e levita e igualmente seu filho, Ptolomeu, trouxeram a presente carta concernente aos Purim, dizendo que ela tinha sido traduzida por Lisímaco, filho de Ptolomeu, em Jerusalém.*

1In the fourth year of the reign of Ptolemeus and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who said he was a priest and Levite, and Ptolemeus his son, brought this epistle of Phurim, which they said was the same, and that Lysimachus the son of Ptolemeus, that was in Jerusalem, had interpreted it.

2No segundo ano do reino de Assuero, o grande rei, no primeiro dia do mês de Nisã, Mardoqueu, filho de Jair, filho de Semei, filho de Cis, da tribo de Benjamim, teve um sonho.

2In the second year of the reign of Artexerxes the great, in the first day of the month Nisan, Mardocheus the son of Jairus, the son of Semei, the son of Cisai, of the tribe of Benjamin, had a dream;

3Havia um judeu estabelecido em Susa, grande personagem, adido à corte do rei.

3Who was a Jew, and dwelt in the city of Susa, a great man, being a servitor in the king’s court.

4Era do número dos cativos que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babi­lônia, tinha deportado de Jerusalém com o rei Jeconias, de Judá.

4He was also one of the captives, which Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon carried from Jerusalem with Jechonias king of Judea; and this was his dream:

5Esta foi sua visão: clamores repentinos, tumultos, trovões, um tremor de terra, o terror por toda a terra.

5Behold a noise of a tumult, with thunder, and earthquakes, and uproar in the land:

6Em seguida, repentinamente, avançaram dois grandes dragões, dispostos para acometer um ao outro.

6And, behold, two great dragons came forth ready to fight, and their cry was great.

7Ao grito que lançaram, as nações se comoveram para combater contra a nação dos justos.

7And at their cry all nations were prepared to battle, that they might fight against the righteous people.

8Foi um dia de escuridão e trevas: tribulação, angústia, perigo e terror sobre toda a terra.

8And lo a day of darkness and obscurity, tribulation and anguish, affliction and great uproar, upon earth.

9O povo inteiro dos justos, cheio de terror, temendo todos os males, julgou-se a ponto de perecer

9And the whole righteous nation was troubled, fearing their own evils, and were ready to perish.

10e clamou a Deus. Enquanto levantavam clamores eis que uma peque­nina fonte toma proporções de um grande rio, uma massa de água.

10Then they cried unto God, and upon their cry, as it were from a little fountain, was made a great flood, even much water.

11A luz apareceu com o sol; os que estavam na humilhação foram exaltados e devoraram os nobres.

11The light and the sun rose up, and the lowly were exalted, and devoured the glorious.

12Depois de ter visto esse sonho e o que Deus queria fazer, Mardoqueu se levantou. Até a noite conservou esse sonho gravado no seu espírito, procuran­do conhecer o seu sentido.

12Now when Mardocheus, who had seen this dream, and what God had determined to do, was awake, he bare this dream in mind, and until night by all means was desirous to know it.
