Epístola de Barnabé 2

1Uma vez que os dias são maus e o ativo está nas mãos daquele que trabalha.

1Since the days are evil and the active power is in the hands of him who works.

2Devemos prestar atenção a nós mesmos e buscar os decretos do Senhor.

2We must give heed to ourselves and seek the decrees of the Lord.

3O medo e a paciência são os ajudantes de nossa fé, e a longanimidade e a continência lutam ao nosso lado.

3Fear and patience are the helpers of our faith, and longsuffering and continence fight on our side.

4Enquanto estas coisas permanecerem puras em assuntos relacionados ao Senhor.

4While these things remain pure in matters concerning the Lord.

5A sabedoria, o entendimento, a ciência e o conhecimento se alegram junto com elas.

5Wisdom, understanding, science and knowledge rejoice together with them.

6Porque ele nos manifestou através de todos os profetas que não precisa de sacrifícios, nem holocaustos, nem ofertas.

6For he has manifested to us through all the prophets that he needs neither sacrifices, nor burnt offerings, nor oblations.

7O que é para mim a multidão de vossos sacrifícios?, diz o Senhor.

7What is the multitude of your sacrifices to me?, says the Lord.

8Estou cheio de holocaustos de carneiros. Não quero gordura de cordeiros nem sangue de touros e bodes.

8I am full of burnt offerings of rams. I do not want the fat of lambs nor the blood of bulls and goats.
