Epístola de Barnabé 12

1Do mesmo modo, ele define a respeito da cruz em outro profeta, que diz: E quando estas coisas se cumprirão?

1In like manner he defines concerning the cross in another prophet, who says: And when shall these things be accomplished?

2O Senhor diz: Quando uma árvore cair e se levantar, e quando de uma árvore fluir sangue.

2The Lord says: When a tree shall fall and rise again, and when blood shall flow from a tree.

3Novamente tens um sinal a respeito da cruz e daquele que seria crucificado.

3Again you have a sign concerning the cross and him who was to be crucified.

4Novamente ele fala a Moisés, quando Israel estava sendo atacado por estrangeiros.

4Again he speaks to Moses, when Israel was being attacked by foreigners.

5E para lembrá-los, quando atacados, que foram entregues à morte por causa de seus pecados.

5And to remind them, when attacked, that they were delivered to death because of their sins.

6O Espírito fala ao coração de Moisés para fazer uma figura da cruz e daquele que iria sofrer.

6The Spirit speaks to the heart of Moses to make a figure of the cross and of him who was to suffer.

7Porque, diz ele, a menos que confiem nele, serão atacados para sempre.

7For, he says, unless they trust in him, they will be attacked forever.

8Moisés portanto colocou armas umas sobre outras no meio da batalha.

8Moses therefore placed weapons one upon another in the midst of the battle.
