Epístola de Barnabé 10

1Porque Moisés diz: Não comereis porco, nem águia, nem falcão, nem corvo.

1For Moses says: You shall not eat the swine, nor the eagle, nor the falcon, nor the raven.

2Nem nenhum peixe que não tenha escamas.

2Nor any fish that has no scales.

3Ele recebeu três decretos em seu entendimento.

3He received three decrees in his understanding.

4Além disso, o Senhor lhes disse em Deuteronômio: E estabelecerei meus decretos para este povo.

4Moreover, the Lord said to them in Deuteronomy: And I will establish my decrees for this people.

5Portanto não é ordem de Deus não comer, mas Moisés falou em espírito.

5Therefore it is not the command of God not to eat, but Moses spoke in spirit.

6Quanto ao porco, ele mencionou isto: Não te unirás a homens que são como porcos.

6As for the swine, he mentioned this: You shall not join yourself to men who are like swine.

7Isto é, quando vivem na abundância, esquecem o Senhor, mas quando estão necessitados, reconhecem o Senhor.

7That is, when they live in abundance, they forget the Lord, but when they are in need, they acknowledge the Lord.

8Assim como o porco, quando come, não conhece seu senhor, mas quando tem fome grunhe.

8Just as the swine, when it eats, does not know its master, but when it is hungry it squeals.
