1Tende piedade de nós, ó Deus de todas as coisas, olhai para nós, e fazei-nos ver a luz de vossa misericórdia!*

1Have mercy upon us, O Lord God of all, and behold us:

2Espargi o vosso terror sobre as nações que não vos procuram, para que saibam que não há outro Deus senão vós, e publiquem as vossas maravilhas!

2And send thy fear upon all the nations that seek not after thee.

3Estendei vossa mão contra os povos estranhos, para que vejam o vosso poder.

3Lift up thy hand against the strange nations, and let them see thy power.

4Como diante dos seus olhos mostrastes vossa santidade em nós, assim também, à nossa vista, sereis glorificado neles,

4As thou wast sanctified in us before them: so be thou magnified among them before us.

5para que reconheçam, como também nós reconhecemos, que não há outro Deus fora de vós, Senhor!

5And let them know thee, as we have known thee, that there is no God but only thou, O God.

6Renovai vossos prodígios, fazei milagres inéditos,

6Shew new signs, and make other strange wonders: glorify thy hand and thy right arm, that they may set forth thy wondrous works.

7glorificai vossa mão e vosso braço direito,

7Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath: take away the adversary, and destroy the enemy.

8excitai vosso furor e espargi vossa cólera;

8Make the time short, remember the covenant, and let them declare thy wonderful works.

9desbaratai o inimigo e aniquilai o adversário.

9Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire; and let them perish that oppress the people.

10Apressai o tempo e lembrai-vos do fim, para que sejam apregoadas vossas maravilhas.*

10Smite in sunder the heads of the rulers of the heathen, that say, There is none other but we.

11Devore o ardor da chama aquele que escapar, e sejam arruinados aqueles que maltratam o vosso povo.

11Gather all the tribes of Jacob together, and inherit thou them, as from the beginning.

12Esmagai a cabeça dos chefes dos inimigos que dizem: “Só nós existimos!”.

12O Lord, have mercy upon the people that is called by thy name, and upon Israel, whom thou hast named thy firstborn.

13Reuni todas as tribos de Jacó, para que saibam que não há outro Deus senão vós, e publiquem vossas maravilhas! Tomai-as como herança, assim como eram no começo.

13O be merciful unto Jerusalem, thy holy city, the place of thy rest.

14Tende piedade de vosso povo, que é chamado pelo vosso nome, e de Israel, que tratastes como vosso filho primogênito.

14Fill Sion with thine unspeakable oracles, and thy people with thy glory:

15Tende piedade da cidade que santificastes, de Jerusalém, cidade do vosso repouso.

15Give testimony unto those that thou hast possessed from the beginning, and raise up prophets that have been in thy name.

16Enchei Sião com vossas palavras inefáveis, e o vosso povo com a vossa glória.

16Reward them that wait for thee, and let thy prophets be found faithful.

17Dai testemunho em favor daqueles que são vossas criaturas desde a origem. Tornai verdadeiros os oráculos que proferiam os antigos profetas em vosso nome.

17O Lord, hear the prayer of thy servants, according to the blessing of Aaron over thy people, that all they which dwell upon the earth may know that thou art the Lord, the eternal God.

18Recompensai aqueles que vos esperam pacientemente, a fim de que vossos profetas sejam achados fiéis. Ouvi as orações de vossos servos.

18The belly devoureth all meats, yet is one meat better than another.

19Segundo as bênçãos dadas a vosso povo por Aarão, conduzi-nos pelo caminho da justiça, para que todos os habitantes da terra saibam que vós sois o Deus que contempla os séculos.

19As the palate tasteth divers kinds of venison: so doth an heart of understanding false speeches.

20O estômago recebe toda espécie de alimentos, mas entre os alimentos um é melhor do que o outro.

20A froward heart causeth heaviness: but a man of experience will recompense him.

21O paladar discerne o gosto da caça; o coração sensato discerne as palavras enganadoras.

21A woman will receive every man, yet is one daughter better than another.

22Um coração perverso é causa de tristeza, mas o homem experiente a resistirá.

22The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance, and a man loveth nothing better.

23A mulher pode esposar toda espécie de homens, mas entre as jovens uma é melhor do que a outra.

23If there be kindness, meekness, and comfort, in her tongue, then is not her husband like other men.

24A beleza da mulher alegra o rosto do esposo: ela se torna mais amável que tudo o que o homem pode desejar.

24He that getteth a wife beginneth a possession, a help like unto himself, and a pillar of rest.

25Se a sua língua cura os males, tem também doçura e bondade; o seu esposo não é como os demais homens.*

25Where no hedge is, there the possession is spoiled: and he that hath no wife will wander up and down mourning.

26Aquele que possui uma mulher virtuosa tem com que tornar-se rico; é uma ajuda que lhe é semelhante, e uma coluna de apoio.

26Who will trust a thief well appointed, that skippeth from city to city? so who will believe a man that hath no house, and lodgeth wheresoever the night taketh him?

27Onde não há cerca, os bens estão expostos ao roubo; onde não há mulher, o homem suspira de necessidade.

28Quem confia naquele que não tem morada e naquele que passa a noite onde quer que a noite o surpreenda? Ou que vagueia de cidade em cidade como um ladrão sempre prestes a fugir?*
