1TESTAMENT OF JUDAH - Copy of the words of Judah, what he spoke to his sons before he died.

2Ouvi as palavras de Judá, o quarto filho de Jacó e Léia.

2Hear the words of Judah, the fourth son of Jacob and Leah.

3Eu era audacioso no campo e em casa, porque o anjo da força estava comigo.

3I was bold in the field and at home, for the angel of strength was with me.

4Com dezesseis anos matei um leão e arranquei um cabrito de sua boca.

4At sixteen I killed a lion and snatched a kid from its mouth.

5Quando tinha vinte anos venci todos os reis de Canaã em batalha.

5When I was twenty I defeated all the kings of Canaan in battle.

6Peguei os touros pelos chifres e os matei, e nenhuma besta me resistia.

6I seized bulls by the horns and killed them, and no beast resisted me.

7Mas eu amei o vinho demais, e isso foi minha ruína.

7But I loved wine too much, and that was my ruin.

8Pois o vinho perverte a mente e afasta da verdade.

8For wine perverts the mind and turns one from the truth.

9Através do vinho fui seduzido e me deitei com uma mulher cananeia.

9Through wine I was seduced and lay with a Canaanite woman.

10Por isso, filhos meus, evitai a embriaguez, pois nela está todo mal.

10Therefore, my sons, avoid drunkenness, for in it is all evil.
