1TESTAMENTO DE JOSÉ - Cópia do testamento de José, quando estava morrendo.

1TESTAMENT OF JOSEPH - Copy of the testament of Joseph, when he was dying.

2Chamou seus filhos e irmãos e disse-lhes: Meus irmãos e filhos, ouvi José, o amado de Israel.

2He called his sons and brothers and said to them: My brothers and sons, hear Joseph, the beloved of Israel.

3Escutai as palavras da minha boca.

3Listen to the words of my mouth.

4Eu vi em minha vida inveja e morte, mas não errei, e permaneci na verdade do Senhor.

4I have seen in my life envy and death, but I did not err, and I remained in the truth of the Lord.

5Estes meus irmãos me odiaram, mas o Senhor me amou.

5These my brothers hated me, but the Lord loved me.

6Eles quiseram me matar, mas o Deus de meus pais me guardou.

6They wanted to kill me, but the God of my fathers kept me.

7Lançaram-me num poço, e o Altíssimo me tirou.

7They cast me into a pit, and the Most High brought me out.

8Fui vendido como escravo, e o Senhor de todas as coisas me libertou.

8I was sold as a slave, and the Lord of all things freed me.

9Fui levado em cativeiro, e sua mão forte me ajudou.

9I was taken into captivity, and his strong hand helped me.

10Fui afligido pela fome, e o próprio Senhor me alimentou.

10I was afflicted by famine, and the Lord himself fed me.
