2Ouvi, filhos meus, as palavras de Rúben, vosso pai.

2Hear, my sons, the words of Reuben, your father.

3Eis que morro e vou ao caminho de meus pais.

3Behold, I am dying and going the way of my fathers.

4Vendo aqui Judá e Gade e Aser, meus irmãos, dou-vos este mandamento.

5Prestai atenção a Rúben, vosso pai, no que vos ordeno.

6Eis que invoco contra vós hoje o Deus do céu, para que não andeis na ignorância da juventude.

6Behold, I call against you today the God of heaven, that you walk not in the ignorance of youth.

7Nem na fornicação em que eu caí e contaminei o leito de meu pai Jacó.

8Digo-vos que ele me feriu com dura enfermidade por sete meses.

9Se não fosse Jacó, meu pai, que orou por mim ao Senhor, o Senhor teria me destruído.

10Pois tinha trinta anos quando cometi este mal aos olhos do Senhor.

11E por sete meses estive doente até a morte.
