Documento de Damasco 13

1Quanto ao sábado, para guardá-lo segundo a sua lei: nenhum homem fará trabalho no sexto dia desde a hora em que o disco do sol em sua plenitude ainda estiver fora do portão, pois foi Ele quem disse: 'Guarda o dia de sábado para o santificar.'

1As to the Sabbath, to observe it according to its law, no man shall do work on the sixth day from the time when the sun's orb in its fullness is still without the gate, for it is He who has said, 'Observe the Sabbath day to keep it holy.'

2E no dia de sábado nenhum homem proferirá palavra de insensatez ou de vaidade.

2And on the Sabbath day no man shall utter a word of folly and vanity.

3Nenhum homem emprestará coisa alguma ao seu próximo.

3No man shall lend aught to his neighbor.

4Ninguém disputará sobre assuntos de riqueza e lucro.

4None shall dispute on matters of wealth and gain.

5Ninguém falará sobre assuntos de obra e trabalho a ser feito na manhã seguinte.

5None shall speak on matters of work and labor to be done on the following morning.

6Nenhum homem andará no campo para fazer o serviço do seu negócio.

6No man shall walk in the field to do the work of his business.

7No sábado ninguém andará fora da sua cidade mais de mil côvados.

7On the Sabbath none shall walk outside his city more than a thousand cubits.

8Nenhum homem comerá no dia de sábado nada além daquilo que está preparado ou que está perecendo no campo.

8No man shall eat on the Sabbath day aught save that which is prepared or perishing in the field.

9Nem comerá ou beberá ninguém, a não ser no acampamento.

9Nor shall one eat or drink unless in the camp.

10Se ele estiver a caminho e descer para se lavar, poderá beber onde estiver, mas não tirará água para dentro de nenhuma vasilha.

10If he was on the way and went down to wash he may drink where he stands, but he shall not draw into any vessel.

11Nenhum homem enviará o filho de um estrangeiro para fazer o seu negócio no dia de sábado.

11No man shall send the son of a stranger to do his business on the Sabbath day.

12Nenhum homem vestirá roupas que estejam sujas ou que tenham sido trazidas por um gentio, a menos que tenham sido lavadas em água ou esfregadas com incenso.

12No man shall put on garments that are filthy or were brought by a Gentile unless they were washed in water or rubbed with frankincense.

13Nenhum homem jejuará por sua própria vontade no sábado.

13No man shall fast of his own will on the Sabbath.

14Nenhum homem andará atrás do animal para pastoreá-lo fora da sua cidade mais de dois mil côvados.

14No man shall walk after the animal to pasture it outside his city more than two thousand cubits.

15Ninguém levantará a mão para feri-lo com o punho.

15None shall lift his hand to smite it with his fist.

16Se for teimoso, não o tirará da sua casa. Nenhum homem carregará coisa alguma de dentro de casa para fora, ou de fora para dentro de casa; e, se estiver no vestíbulo, não tirará nada dele nem trará nada para dentro dele.

16If it be stubborn he shall not remove it out of his house. No man shall carry anything from the house to the outside or from the outside into the house, and if he be in the vestibule he shall not carry anything out of it or bring in anything into it.

17Ninguém abrirá a tampa de uma vasilha que esteja selada com cola no sábado.

17None shall open the cover of a vessel that is pasted on the Sabbath.

18Nenhum homem levará sobre si especiarias para sair ou para entrar no sábado.

18No man shall carry on him spices to go out or come in on the Sabbath.

19Ninguém levantará na sua morada pedra ou terra.

19None shall lift up in his dwelling house rock or earth.

20Não tome o pai adotivo a criança que mama para sair ou para entrar no sábado.

20Let not the nursing father take the sucking child to go out or to come in on the Sabbath.

21Nenhum homem provocará o seu servo, ou a sua serva, ou o seu diarista no sábado.

21No man shall provoke his manservant or his maidservant or his hireling on the Sabbath.

22Nenhum homem ajudará um animal no seu parto no dia de sábado.

22No man shall help an animal in its delivery on the Sabbath day.

23E se ele cair em uma cova ou vala, não o tirará no sábado.

23And if it falls into a pit or ditch, he shall not raise it on the Sabbath.

24Nenhum homem descansará em um lugar próximo aos gentios no sábado.

24No man shall rest in a place near to the Gentiles on the Sabbath.

25Nenhum homem consentirá em contaminar o sábado por causa de riqueza ou ganho no sábado.

25No man shall suffer himself to be polluted for the sake of wealth or gain on the Sabbath.

26E se alguma pessoa cair em um lugar de águas ou em um lugar de perigo, não a retirará com escada, nem corda, nem instrumento.

26And if any person falls into a place of water or into a place of danger, he shall not bring him up by a ladder or a cord or instrument.

27Nenhum homem oferecerá coisa alguma sobre o altar no sábado, salvo o holocausto do sábado, pois assim está escrito: 'Exceto os vossos sábados'.

27No man shall offer anything on the altar on the Sabbath, save the burnt-offering of the Sabbath, for so it is written 'Excepting your Sabbaths'.
