1Agora, pois, dai-me ouvidos, todos vós que conheceis a justiça,

1Now, therefore, hearken unto me all ye who know righteousness,

2e tende entendimento nas obras de Deus; porque Ele tem uma controvérsia com toda a carne, e executará juízo sobre todos os que O desprezam.

2And have understanding in the works of God. For He hath a controversy with all flesh, And will execute judgment upon all who despise Him.

3Pois, por causa da transgressão daqueles que O abandonaram, Ele escondeu o Seu rosto de Israel e do Seu Santuário, e os entregou à espada.

3For because of the trespass of those who forsook Him, He hid His face from Israel and from His Sanctuary, And gave them over to the sword.

4Mas, quando Se lembrou da aliança com os antepassados, Ele deixou um remanescente a Israel, e não os entregou à destruição.

4But when He remembered the covenant of the forefathers, He left a remnant to Israel, and gave them not over to destruction.

5E, no período da ira, trezentos e noventa anos depois de os haver entregado na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, Ele os visitou; e fez brotar de Israel e de Arão uma raiz do Seu plantio para herdar a Sua terra e engordar com a bondade do Seu solo.

5And in the period of the wrath three hundred and ninety years after He had given them in the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon He visited them, and He made to spring forth from Israel and Aaron, A root of His planting to inherit His land, And to grow fat through the goodness of His earth.

6E eles tiveram entendimento da sua iniquidade, e souberam que eram homens culpados, e andavam como cegos tateando o caminho durante vinte anos.

6And they had understanding of their iniquity, And they knew that they were guilty men, And had like the blind been groping after the way twenty years.

7E Deus considerou as suas obras, porque O buscavam com coração perfeito; e suscitou-lhes um Mestre da justiça para os guiar no caminho do Seu coração.

7And God considered their works; for they sought Him with a perfect heart And He raised them up a Teacher of righteousness To lead them in the way of His heart.

8E fez saber às gerações posteriores o que havia feito a uma congregação de homens traiçoeiros: àqueles que se desviaram do caminho.

8And He made known to later generations what He had done to a later generation to a congregation of treacherous men: Those who turned aside out of the way.

9Este foi o tempo acerca do qual foi escrito: Como novilha obstinada, assim se portou Israel obstinadamente;

9This was the time concerning which it was written: As a stubborn heifer So hath Israel behaved himself stubbornly:

10quando se levantou o homem escarnecedor, que proferiu a Israel palavras mentirosas, e os fez vaguear no ermo onde não havia caminho, para abater a soberba do mundo.

10When there arose the scornful man, Who talked to Israel lying words, And made them go astray in the wilderness where there was no way, to bring low the pride of the world.

11De modo que se desviaram das veredas da justiça e removeram o marco que os antepassados haviam posto na sua herança;

11So that they should turn aside from the paths of righteousness, And remove the landmark which the forefathers had set in their inheritance:

12para fazer apegar a eles as maldições da Sua aliança, e entregá-los à espada que vinga a vingança da aliança.

12So as to make cleave unto them The curses of His covenant, To deliver them to the sword That avengeth with the vengeance of the covenant.

13Porque buscaram coisas lisonjeiras, e escolheram enganos, e vigiaram com o propósito de praticar atos ímpios.

13Because they sought after smooth things, And they chose deceits, And kept watch with a view to lawless deeds.

14E escolheram a altivez do pescoço, e justificaram o ímpio, e condenaram o justo;

14And they chose the best of the neck, And justified the wicked, And condemned the righteous:

15e transgrediram a aliança, e violaram o estatuto, e investiram contra a alma do justo.

15And transgressed the covenant, And violated the statute, And attacked the soul of the righteous.

16E a sua alma abominou todos os que andavam com retidão, e os perseguiram à espada, e alegraram-se com a contenda do povo.

16And all that walked uprightly their soul abhorred, And they pursued them with the sword, And rejoiced in the strife of the people.

17E assim a ira de Deus se acendeu contra a sua congregação, de sorte que Ele desolou toda a sua multidão, e as suas obras foram imundícia diante d'Ele.

17And so the wrath of God was kindled against their congregation, So that He laid waste all their multitude, And their deeds were uncleanness before Him.
