Epístola a Diogneto 11

1Capítulo 11 - Estas coisas são dignas de serem conhecidas e cridas.

1Chapter 11 — These things are worthy to be known and believed.

2Não falo de coisas que me são estranhas, nem pretendo nada que seja inconsistente com a razão correta; mas tendo sido discípulo dos apóstolos, tornei-me mestre dos gentios.

2I do not speak of things strange to me, nor do I aim at anything inconsistent with right reason; but having been a disciple of the Apostles, I am become a teacher of the Gentiles.

3Ministro as coisas que me foram entregues àqueles que são discípulos dignos da verdade.

3I minister the things delivered to me to those that are disciples worthy of the truth.

4Pois quem é corretamente ensinado e gerado pela Palavra amorosa, não procuraria aprender com precisão as coisas que foram claramente mostradas pela Palavra aos Seus discípulos, a quem a Palavra sendo manifestada as revelou, falando-lhes claramente, não compreendido de fato pelos incrédulos, mas conversando com os discípulos, que, sendo considerados fiéis por Ele, adquiriram o conhecimento dos mistérios do Pai? Por esta razão Ele enviou a Palavra, para que fosse manifestada ao mundo; e Ele, sendo desprezado pelo povo dos judeus, foi, quando pregado pelos apóstolos, acreditado pelos gentios.

4For who that is rightly taught and begotten by the loving Word, would not seek to learn accurately the things which have been clearly shown by the Word to His disciples, to whom the Word being manifested has revealed them, speaking plainly to them, not understood indeed by the unbelieving, but conversing with the disciples, who, being esteemed faithful by Him, acquired a knowledge of the mysteries of the Father? For which reason He sent the Word, that He might be manifested to the world; and He, being despised by the people of the Jews, was, when preached by the Apostles, believed on by the Gentiles.

5Este é Aquele que existia desde o princípio, que apareceu como novo e foi encontrado velho, mas que sempre nasce de novo no coração dos santos.

5This is He who was from the beginning, who appeared as if new, and was found old, and yet who is ever born afresh in the hearts of the saints.

6Este é Aquele que, sendo desde a eternidade, hoje é chamado de Filho; por meio de quem a Igreja se enriquece, e a graça, amplamente difundida, aumenta nos santos, fornecendo entendimento, revelando mistérios, anunciando tempos, alegrando os fiéis, dando a quem procura, por quem os limites da fé não são ultrapassados, nem os limites estabelecidos pelos pais são ultrapassados.

6This is He who, being from everlasting, is to-day called the Son; through whom the Church is enriched, and grace, widely spread, increases in the saints, furnishing understanding, revealing mysteries, announcing times, rejoicing over the faithful, giving to those that seek, by whom the limits of faith are not broken through, nor the boundaries set by the fathers passed over.

7Então o temor da lei é cantado, e a graça dos profetas é conhecida, e a fé dos evangelhos é estabelecida, e a tradição dos Apóstolos é preservada, e a graça da Igreja exulta; qual graça, se você não entristecer, você saberá as coisas que a Palavra ensina, por quem Ele quiser e quando Ele quiser.

7Then the fear of the law is chanted, and the grace of the prophets is known, and the faith of the gospels is established, and the tradition of the Apostles is preserved, and the grace of the Church exults; which grace if you grieve not, you shall know those things which the Word teaches, by whom He wills, and when He pleases.

8Pois tudo o que somos movidos a proferir pela vontade da Palavra que nos ordena, nós comunicamos a vocês com dores e por amor às coisas que nos foram reveladas.

8For whatever things we are moved to utter by the will of the Word commanding us, we communicate to you with pains, and from a love of the things that have been revealed to us.
