Deuteronômio 19

1Quando o SENHOR teu Deus desarraigar as nações cuja terra te dará o SENHOR teu Deus, e tu as possuíres, e morares nas suas cidades e nas suas casas,

1When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses; {succeedest: Heb. inheritest, or, possessest}

2Três cidades separarás, no meio da terra que te dará o Senhor teu Deus para a possuíres.

2Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

3Preparar-te-ás o caminho; e os termos da tua terra, que te fará possuir o Senhor teu Deus, dividirás em três; e isto será para que todo o homicida se acolha ali.

3Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.

4E este é o caso tocante ao homicida, que se acolher ali, para que viva; aquele que por engano ferir o seu próximo, a quem não odiava antes;

4And this {is} the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; {in...: Heb. from yesterday the third day}

5Como aquele que entrar com o seu próximo no bosque, para cortar lenha, e, pondo força na sua mão com o machado para cortar a árvore, o ferro saltar do cabo e ferir o seu próximo e este morrer, aquele se acolherá a uma destas cidades, e viverá;

5As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: {head: Heb. iron} {helve: Heb. wood} {lighteth...: Heb. findeth}

6Para que o vingador do sangue não vá após o homicida, quando se enfurecer o seu coração, e o alcançar, por ser comprido o caminho, e lhe tire a vida; porque não é culpado de morte, pois o não odiava antes.

6Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he {was} not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. {slay...: Heb. smite him in life} {in...: Heb. from yesterday the third day}

7Portanto te dou ordem, dizendo: Três cidades separarás.

7Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.

8E, se o Senhor teu Deus dilatar os teus termos, como jurou a teus pais, e te der toda a terra que disse daria a teus pais

8And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;

9(Quando guardares todos estes mandamentos, que hoje te ordeno, para cumprí-los, amando ao Senhor teu Deus e andando nos seus caminhos todos os dias), então acrescentarás outras três cidades além destas três.

9If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

10Para que o sangue inocente não se derrame no meio da tua terra, que o Senhor teu Deus te dá por herança, e haja sangue sobre ti.

10That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee {for} an inheritance, and {so} blood be upon thee.

11Mas, havendo alguém que odeia a seu próximo, e lhe arma ciladas, e se levanta contra ele, e o fere mortalmente, e se acolhe a alguma destas cidades,

11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: {mortally: Heb. in life}

12Então os anciãos da sua cidade mandarão buscá-lo; e dali o tirarão, e o entregarão na mão do vingador do sangue, para que morra.

12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

13O teu olho não o perdoará; antes tirarás o sangue inocente de Israel, para que bem te suceda.

13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away {the guilt of} innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.

14Não mudes o limite do teu próximo, que estabeleceram os antigos na tua herança, que receberás na terra que te dá o Senhor teu Deus para a possuíres.

14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

15Uma só testemunha contra alguém não se levantará por qualquer iniqüidade, ou por qualquer pecado, seja qual for o pecado que cometeu; pela boca de duas testemunhas, ou pela boca de três testemunhas, se estabelecerá o fato.

15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

16Quando se levantar testemunha falsa contra alguém, para testificar contra ele acerca de transgressão,

16If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him {that which is} wrong; {that...: or, falling away}

17Então aqueles dois homens, que tiverem a demanda, se apresentarão perante o Senhor, diante dos sacerdotes e dos juízes que houver naqueles dias.

17Then both the men, between whom the controversy {is}, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

18E os juízes inquirirão bem; e eis que, sendo a testemunha falsa, que testificou falsamente contra seu irmão,

18And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, {if} the witness {be} a false witness, {and} hath testified falsely against his brother;

19Far-lhe-eis como cuidou fazer a seu irmão; e assim tirarás o mal do meio de ti.

19Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

20Para que os que ficarem o ouçam e temam, e nunca mais tornem a fazer tal mal no meio de ti.

20And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

21O teu olho não perdoará; vida por vida, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé.

21And thine eye shall not pity; {but} life {shall go} for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
