Descida ao Inferno 8

1E o Senhor estendeu a Sua mão e disse: Vinde a mim, todos os meus santos, que tendes a minha imagem e semelhança.

1And the Lord stretched out His hand, and said: Come to me, all my saints, who have my image and likeness.

2Vós que fostes condenados pela árvore, pelo diabo e pela morte, vede agora o diabo e a morte condenados pela árvore.

2Do you, who have been condemned through the tree and the devil and death, now see the devil and death condemned through the tree.

3Imediatamente todos os santos foram reunidos debaixo da mão do Senhor.

3Immediately all the saints were brought together under the hand of the Lord.

4E o Senhor, segurando Adão pela mão direita, disse-lhe: Paz seja contigo e com todos os teus filhos, os meus justos!

4And the Lord, holding Adam by the right hand, said to him: Peace be to thee, with all thy children, my righteous ones!

5E Adão prostrou-se aos joelhos do Senhor, e orando com lágrimas e rogos, disse em alta voz: Eu Te exaltarei, ó Senhor; porque me levantaste e não fizeste com que os meus inimigos se regozijassem sobre mim.

5And Adam fell down at the knees of the Lord, and with tearful entreaty praying, said with a loud voice: I will extol Thee, O Lord; for Thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

6Senhor Deus, a Ti clamei, e Tu me saraste.

6O Lord God, I cried unto Thee, and Thou hast healed me.

7Senhor, tiraste a minha alma das profundezas; livraste-me daqueles que descem à cova.

7O Lord, Thou hast brought out my soul from the powers below; Thou hast saved me from them that go down into the pit.

8Cantai louvores ao Senhor, vós que sois Seus santos, e celebrai a memória da Sua santidade; porque na Sua indignação há ira, mas no Seu favor está a vida.

8Sing praises to the Lord, all His saints, and confess to the memory of His holiness; since there is anger in His indignation, and life in His goodwill.

9Do mesmo modo também todos os santos de Deus, caindo de joelhos aos pés do Senhor, disseram a uma só voz: Vieste, ó Redentor do mundo; assim como predisseste pela lei e pelos Teus profetas, assim o cumpriste por Tuas obras.

9In like manner also all the saints of God, falling on their knees at the feet of the Lord, said with one voice: Thou hast come, O Redeemer of the world: as Thou hast foretold by the law and Thy prophets, so hast Thou fulfilled by Thy deeds.

10Remiste os vivos por Tua cruz; e pela morte da cruz desceste a nós, para nos arrancares dos poderes do abismo e da morte, por Tua majestade.

10Thou hast redeemed the living by Thy cross; and by the death of the cross Thou hast come down to us, to rescue us from the powers below, and from death, by Thy majesty.

11Ó Senhor, assim como puseste o título de Tua glória no céu, e ergueste sobre a terra a Tua cruz como estandarte de redenção, assim, ó Senhor, coloca no Hades o sinal da vitória de Tua cruz, para que a morte não domine mais.

11O Lord, as Thou hast set the title of Thy glory in heaven, and hast erected as the title of redemption Thy cross upon earth, so, O Lord, set in Hades the sign of the victory of Thy cross, that death may no more have dominion.

12E o Senhor, estendendo a Sua mão, fez o sinal da cruz sobre Adão e sobre todos os Seus santos; e, segurando Adão pela mão direita, subiu das profundezas; e todos os santos O seguiram.

12And the Lord, stretching forth His hand, made the sign of the cross upon Adam and upon all His saints; and holding Adam by the right hand, went up from the powers below: and all the saints followed Him.

13Então o santo Davi clamou em alta voz, dizendo: Cantai ao Senhor um cântico novo, porque Ele fez maravilhas; a Sua destra e o Seu braço santo Lhe alcançaram a vitória.

13Then holy David cried out aloud, saying: Sing unto the Lord a new song, for He hath done wonderful things; His right hand and His holy arm have brought salvation to Himself.

14O Senhor fez notória a Sua salvação; manifestou a Sua justiça perante os olhos dos gentios.

14The Lord hath made known His salvation; His righteousness hath He revealed in the sight of the heathen.

15E toda a multidão dos santos respondeu, dizendo: Esta é a glória de todos os Seus santos. Amém, aleluia.

15And all the multitude of the saints answered, saying: This is glory to all His saints. Amen, alleluia.

16E depois disto o profeta Habacuque clamou, dizendo: Saíste para o socorro do Teu povo, para salvar os Teus eleitos.

16And after this the prophet Habacuc cried out, saying: Thou wentest forth for the salvation of Thy people, to deliver Thine elect.

17E todos os santos responderam, dizendo: Bendito Aquele que vem em nome do Senhor; Deus é o Senhor, e resplandeceu sobre nós. Amém, aleluia.

17And all the saints answered, saying: Blessed is He who cometh in the name of the Lord; God is the Lord, and He hath shone upon us. Amen, alleluia.

18De igual modo, depois disto, o profeta Miqueias também clamou, dizendo: Quem é Deus semelhante a Ti, ó Senhor, que tiras as iniquidades e perdoas os pecados?

18In like manner after this the prophet Michæas as also cried out, saying: Who is a God like unto thee, O Lord, taking away iniquities and passing by sins?

19E agora conténs a Tua ira por testemunho contra nós, porque Te agradas na misericórdia.

19And now Thou dost withhold Thine anger for a testimony against us, because Thou delightest in mercy.

20E tornarás a voltar, e Te compadecerás de nós, e perdoarás todas as nossas iniquidades; e lançarás todos os nossos pecados na profundeza da morte, conforme juraste a nossos pais nos dias antigos.

20And Thou turnest again, and hast compassion upon us, and pardonest all our iniquities; and all our sins hast Thou sunk in the multitude of death, as Thou hast sworn unto our fathers in the days of old.

21E todos os santos responderam, dizendo: Este é o nosso Deus para todo o sempre, e pelos séculos dos séculos; e Ele nos guiará eternamente. Amém, aleluia.

21And all the saints answered, saying: This is our God to eternity, and for ever and ever; and He will direct us for evermore. Amen, alleluia.

22Assim também todos os profetas, recitando as Sagradas Escrituras em Seu louvor, e todos os santos clamando: Amém, aleluia, seguiram ao Senhor.

22So also all the prophets, quoting the sacred writings concerning His praises, and all the saints crying, Amen, alleluia, followed the Lord.
