Daniel 10

1No terceiro ano de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, foi revelada uma palavra a Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar; a palavra era verdadeira e envolvia grande conflito; e ele entendeu esta palavra, e tinha entendimento da visão.

1In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing {was} true, but the time appointed {was} long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. {long: Heb. great}

2Naqueles dias eu, Daniel, estive triste por três semanas.

2In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. {full...: Heb. weeks of days}

3Alimento desejável não comi, nem carne nem vinho entraram na minha boca, nem me ungi com ungüento, até que se cumpriram as três semanas.

3I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. {pleasant...: Heb. bread of desires}

4E no dia vinte e quatro do primeiro mês eu estava à borda do grande rio Hidequel;

4And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which {is} Hiddekel;

5E levantei os meus olhos, e olhei, e eis um homem vestido de linho, e os seus lombos cingidos com ouro fino de Ufaz;

5Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins {were} girded with fine gold of Uphaz: {a...: Heb. one man}

6E o seu corpo era como berilo, e o seu rosto parecia um relâmpago, e os seus olhos como tochas de fogo, e os seus braços e os seus pés brilhavam como bronze polido; e a voz das suas palavras era como a voz de uma multidão.

6His body also {was} like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

7E só eu, Daniel, tive aquela visão. Os homens que estavam comigo não a viram; contudo caiu sobre eles um grande temor, e fugiram, escondendo-se.

7And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

8Fiquei, pois, eu só, a contemplar esta grande visão, e não ficou força em mim; transmudou-se o meu semblante em corrupção, e não tive força alguma.

8Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. {comeliness: or, vigour}

9Contudo ouvi a voz das suas palavras; e, ouvindo o som das suas palavras, eu caí sobre o meu rosto num profundo sono, com o meu rosto em terra.

9Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

10E eis que certa mão me tocou, e fez com que me movesse sobre os meus joelhos e sobre as palmas das minhas mãos.

10And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and {upon} the palms of my hands. {set: Heb. moved}

11E me disse: Daniel, homem muito amado, entende as palavras que vou te dizer, e levanta-te sobre os teus pés, porque a ti sou enviado. E, falando ele comigo esta palavra, levantei-me tremendo.

11And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. {greatly...: Heb. of desires} {upright: Heb. upon thy standing}

12Então me disse: Não temas, Daniel, porque desde o primeiro dia em que aplicaste o teu coração a compreender e a humilhar-te perante o teu Deus, são ouvidas as tuas palavras; e eu vim por causa das tuas palavras.

12Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

13Mas o príncipe do reino da Pérsia me resistiu vinte e um dias, e eis que Miguel, um dos primeiros príncipes, veio para ajudar-me, e eu fiquei ali com os reis da Pérsia.

13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. {chief: or, first}

14Agora vim, para fazer-te entender o que há de acontecer ao teu povo nos derradeiros dias; porque a visão é ainda para muitos dias.

14Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision {is} for {many} days.

15E, falando ele comigo estas palavras, abaixei o meu rosto para a terra, e emudeci.

15And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.

16E eis que alguém, semelhante aos filhos dos homens, tocou-me os lábios; então abri a minha boca, e falei, dizendo àquele que estava em pé diante de mim: senhor meu, por causa da visão sobrevieram-me dores, e não me ficou força alguma.

16And, behold, {one} like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.

17Como, pois, pode o servo do meu senhor falar com o meu senhor? Porque, quanto a mim, desde agora não resta força em mim, e nem fôlego ficou em mim.

17For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. {the...: or, this servant of my lord}

18E aquele, que tinha aparência de um homem, tocou-me outra vez, e fortaleceu-me.

18Then there came again and touched me {one} like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,

19E disse: Não temas, homem muito amado, paz seja contigo; anima-te, sim, anima-te. E, falando ele comigo, fiquei fortalecido, e disse: Fala, meu senhor, porque me fortaleceste.

19And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace {be} unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.

20E ele disse: Sabes por que eu vim a ti? Agora, pois, tornarei a pelejar contra o príncipe dos persas; e, saindo eu, eis que virá o príncipe da Grécia.

20Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

21Mas eu te declararei o que está registrado na escritura da verdade; e ninguém há que me anime contra aqueles, senão Miguel, vosso príncipe.

21But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and {there is} none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince. {holdeth: Heb. strengtheneth himself}
