Atos de Xantipa e Polixena 40

1Vendo-nos Paulo alegrou-se grandemente e exclamou: Bem-vindos sejais vós que fostes provados na tribulação!

1And Paul seeing us rejoiced greatly, and said, Welcome ye that have been troubled.

2E Polixena, segurando-lhe os pés, disse: Talvez esta aflição me tenha sobrevindo porque estive a ponto de blasfemar contra ti; mas agora suplico e imploro que não seja mais entregue a semelhantes dores e infortúnios.

2And Polyxena, laying hold of his feet, said, It may be that this trouble came upon me because I would have blasphemed you, but now I beseech and entreat that I may not again be delivered into such troubles and misfortunes.

3Disse-lhe Paulo a chorar: É mister que passemos por tribulações, minha filha, para conhecermos o nosso Defensor, Jesus Cristo.

3And Paul said, weeping, Thus must we be troubled, my daughter, that we may know our defender, Jesus Christ.
