Atos de Xantipa e Polixena 38

1E enquanto eu, Onésimo, navegava rumo à Espanha ter com Paulo, recebi uma revelação do Senhor dizendo-me: Onésimo, o navio em que viajas aportará nas regiões da Grécia, e acharás na praia do porto duas donzelas e um mancebo.

1And as I, Onesimus, was sailing into Spain to Paul, I received from the Lord a revelation saying to me, Onesimus, the vessel in which you now are will land in the parts of Greece, and you will find on the shore of the harbour two maids and one youth.

2Assiste-os e conduze-os a Paulo.

2Assist them and take them to Paul.

3Chegados àquele sítio segundo a ordem do Senhor, encontramos as duas jovens com o mancebo procurando uma embarcação.

3When we reached this place according to the command of the Lord, we found the maids together with the youth seeking a vessel.

4Ao nos verem, as donzelas reconheceram que éramos da esperança de Cristo; e Polixena, correndo ao nosso encontro, disse: Em verdade o homem de Deus não pode ocultar-se, pois a graça e a bondade de seu semblante o manifestam.

4When the maids saw us therefore, they knew that we were of the hope of Christ, and Polyxena running to us said, Verily the man of God cannot be concealed, for the grace and kindliness of his countenance makes him manifest.

5E quando nos dispúnhamos a partir, o mar revolveu-se pela providência divina.

5And when we sought to sail away, the sea was troubled by the providence of God.

6Achava-se conosco um discípulo de Paulo chamado Lúcio, valoroso na palavra para ensinar a cidade.

6And there was with us a disciple of Paul, by name Lucius, capable in word to teach the city.

7Permanecemos ali sete dias; e Deus abriu naquela terra uma grande porta para a fé, crendo vinte mil almas, com imenso regozijo em toda a cidade.

7Therefore we remained seven days, and God opened to that place a great door of faith, and twenty thousand believed, and there was great joy and rejoicing in all the city.

8E quando chegou o tempo favorável para navegarmos, o prefeito tornou a insistir conosco, e ficamos outros sete dias, até que todos creram e se alegraram no Senhor.

8And when the season was favourable for us to sail the prefect again constrained us, and we stayed another seven days, until all believed and rejoiced in the Lord.
