Atos de Pedro 33

1Ora, estava Pedro em Roma, alegrando-se no Senhor com os irmãos, e dando graças de noite e de dia pela multidão que diariamente era conduzida ao santo nome pela graça do Senhor. E ajuntaram-se também a Pedro as concubinas de Agripa, o prefeito, as quais eram quatro: Agripina, Nicária, Eufêmia e Dóris; e elas, ouvindo a palavra acerca da castidade e todos os oráculos do Senhor, foram feridas em suas almas, e concordando entre si em permanecer puras do leito de Agripa, eram por ele atribuladas.

1Now Peter was in Rome rejoicing in the Lord with the brethren, and giving thanks night and day for the multitude which was brought daily unto the holy name by the grace of the Lord. And there were gathered also unto Peter the concubines of Agrippa the prefect, being four, Agrippina and Nicaria and Euphemia and Doris; and they, hearing the word concerning chastity and all the oracles of the Lord, were smitten in their souls, and agreeing together to remain pure from the bed of Agrippa they were vexed by him.

2E estando Agripa perplexo e contristado por causa delas — pois as amava grandemente —, observou e enviou homens secretamente para ver para onde iam, e achou que iam ter com Pedro. Disse-lhes, pois, quando voltaram: Aquele cristão vos ensinou a não terdes trato comigo; sabei que não só vos destruirei a vós, mas a ele queimarei vivo. Elas, contudo, suportaram padecer toda sorte de mal da mão de Agripa, contanto que não padecessem a paixão do amor, sendo fortalecidas pela virtude de Jesus.

2Now as Agrippa was perplexed and grieved concerning them -and he loved them greatlyhe observed and sent men privily to see whither they went, and found that they went unto Peter. He said therefore unto them when they returned: That Christian hath taught you to have no dealings with me: know ye that I will both destroy you, and burn him alive. They, then, endured to suffer all manner of evil at Agrippa's hand, if only they might not suffer the passion of love, being strengthened by the might of Jesus.
