Atos de Paulo 4

1Tendo Paulo partido de Mira para ir a Sídon, houve grande tristeza entre os irmãos que estavam na Pisídia e na Panfília, porquanto suspiravam pela sua palavra e pela sua santa presença em Cristo; de sorte que alguns de Perge seguiram a Paulo, a saber, Trasímaco e Cléon com suas mulheres, Aline e Crisa, mulher de Cléon. E pelo caminho sustentavam a Paulo; e comiam o seu pão debaixo de uma árvore.

1Now when Paul was departed from Myra and would go unto Sidon there was great sadness of the brethren that were in Pisidia and Pamphylia, because they yearned after his word and his holy appearance in Christ; so that some from Perga followed Paul, namely Thrasymachus and Cleon with their wives Aline and Chrysa, Cleon's wife. And on the way they nourished Paul: and they were eating their bread under a tree.

2E disse Paulo: Todo aquele que crer em Jesus Cristo, que nos livrou de toda a corrupção, e de toda a imundícia, e de todos os maus pensamentos, esse será manifesto.

2And Paul said: Every one that believeth on Jesus Christ who hath saved us from all defilement and all uncleanness and all evil thoughts, he shall be manifest.

3E levantou-se um ancião entre eles, dizendo: Por que presumis fazer o que não é lícito? Ou não ouvistes do que aconteceu, o que Deus trouxe sobre Sodoma e Gomorra, porque fizeram o que não era lícito? Tal é o juízo que há de vir sobre este povo.

3And an old man stood up among them, saying: Wherefore presume ye to do that which is not seemly? Or have ye not heard of that which came to pass, which God brought upon Sodom and Gomorrha, because they did that which was not seemly? Even so is the judgment which shall come upon this people.

4Mas Paulo, que jejuava já havia três dias, testificou durante toda a noite, estando angustiado, e bateu em seu rosto e disse: Senhor, olha para as suas ameaças, e manifesta o teu poder sobre os ídolos. E naquela mesma hora a casa e os altares foram abalados, e os irmãos glorificaram a Deus.

4But Paul, who was fasting now the third day, testified all the night long, being troubled, and smote his face and said: Lord, look upon their threatenings, and show forth thy power over the idols. And in that hour the house and the altars were shaken, and the brethren glorified God.
