Assunção de Moisés 9

1Então, naquele dia, haverá um homem da tribo de Levi, cujo nome será Taxo, o qual, tendo sete filhos, falará com eles, exortando-os: 'Observem, meus filhos, eis que uma segunda visitação cruel (e) impura veio sobre o povo, e um castigo impiedoso e muito superior ao primeiro.

1Then in that day there shall be a man of the tribe of Levi, whose name shall be Taxo, who having seven sons shall speak to them exhorting (them): 'Observe, my sons, behold a second ruthless (and) unclean visitation has come upon the people, and a punishment merciless and far exceeding the first.

2Pois que nação, que região ou que povo daqueles que são ímpios para com o Senhor, que cometeram muitas abominações, sofreram tantas calamidades como as que nos sobrevieram?

2For what nation or what region or what people of those who are impious towards the Lord, who have done many abominations, have suffered as great calamities as have befallen us?

3Agora, portanto, meus filhos, ouçam-me: pois observem e saibam que nem os pais nem seus antepassados ​​tentaram a Deus, de modo a transgredir Seus mandamentos.

3Now, therefore, my sons, hear me: for observe and know that neither did the fathers nor their forefathers tempt God, so as to transgress His commands.

4E você sabe que esta é a nossa força, e assim faremos. Vamos jejuar pelo espaço de três dias e no quarto vamos para uma caverna que está no campo, e vamos morrer em vez de transgredir os mandamentos do Senhor dos Senhores, o Deus de nossos pais.

4And you know that this is our strength, and thus we will do. Let us fast for the space of three days and on the fourth let us go into a cave which is in the field, and let us die rather than transgress the commands of the Lord of Lords, the God of our fathers.

5Pois se fizermos isso e morrermos, nosso sangue será vingado diante do Senhor.

5For if we do this and die, our blood shall be avenged before the Lord.
