Assunção de Moisés 1

1O Testamento de Moisés, até mesmo as coisas que ele ordenou no centésimo vigésimo ano de sua vida, que é o ano dois mil e quinhentos desde a criação do mundo: [Mas de acordo com o cálculo oriental, o ano dois mil e setecentos e o quarto centésimo após a partida da Fenícia], quando o povo saiu depois do Êxodo que foi feito por Moisés para Amã, além do Jordão, na profecia que foi feita por Moisés no livro Deuteronômio:

1The Testament of Moses even the things which he commanded in the one hundred and twentieth year of his life, that is the two thousand five hundredth year from the creation of the world: [But according to oriental reckoning the two thousand and seven hundredth, and the four hundredth after the departure from Phoenicia], when the people had gone forth after the Exodus that was made by Moses to Amman beyond the Jordan, in the prophecy that was made by Moses in the book Deuteronomy:

2e ele chamou a ele Josué, filho de Num, um homem aprovado pelo Senhor, para que ele fosse o ministro do povo e do tabernáculo do testemunho com todas as suas coisas sagradas, e para que ele pudesse trazer o povo para a terra dada a seus pais, para que lhes fosse dada de acordo com o convênio e o juramento, que Ele falou no tabernáculo para dar (isto) por Josué:

2and he called to him Joshua the son of Nun, a man approved of the Lord, that he might be the minister of the people and of the tabernacle of the testimony with all its holy things, and that he might bring the people into the land given to their fathers, that it should be given to them according to the covenant and the oath, which He spoke in the tabernacle to give (it) by Joshua:

3dizendo a Josué estas palavras: '(Seja forte) e tenha bom ânimo para fazer com tuas forças tudo o que foi ordenado para que sejas irrepreensível diante de Deus.' Assim diz o Senhor do mundo.

3saying to Joshua these words: '(Be strong) and of a good courage so as to do with thy might all that has been commanded that you may be blameless unto God.' So says the Lord of the world.

4Pois Ele criou o mundo em nome do Seu povo. Mas Ele não se agradou em manifestar este propósito da criação desde a fundação do mundo, a fim de que os gentios pudessem assim ser convencidos, sim, para sua própria humilhação, pudessem através de (seus) argumentos convencer uns aos outros.

4For He has created the world on behalf of His people. But He was not pleased to manifest this purpose of creation from the foundation of the world, in order that the Gentiles might thereby be convicted, yea to their own humiliation might by (their) arguments convict one another.

5Conseqüentemente, Ele me projetou e planejou, e me preparou antes da fundação do mundo, para que eu fosse o mediador de Sua aliança.

5Accordingly He designed and devised me, and He prepared me before the foundation of the world, that I should be the mediator of His covenant.

6E agora eu declaro a vocês que o tempo dos anos da minha vida está cumprido e estou passando para dormir com meus pais, mesmo na presença de todo o povo.

6And now I declare unto you that the time of the years of my life is fulfilled and I am passing away to sleep with my fathers even in the presence of all the people.

7E receba este escrito para que você saiba como preservar os livros que eu lhe entregarei:

7And receive this writing that you may know how to preserve the books which I shall deliver unto you:

8e você deve colocá-los em ordem e ungi-los com óleo de cedro e colocá-los em vasos de barro no lugar que Ele fez desde o início da criação do mundo, para que Seu nome seja invocado até o dia do arrependimento na visitação com a qual o Senhor os visitará na consumação do fim dos dias.

8and you shall set these in order and anoint them with oil of cedar and put them away in earthen vessels in the place which He made from the beginning of the creation of the world, that His name should be called upon until the day of repentance in the visitation wherewith the Lord will visit them in the consummation of the end of the days.
