Primeira Apologia de Justino 50

1E, para que o Espírito profético nos indicasse que aquele que sofre essas coisas tem origem inefável e governa seus inimigos, falou assim: "Sua geração, quem a declarará? Pois sua vida é tirada da terra; pelas transgressões deles, ele vai à morte. E darei os perversos para sua sepultura e os ricos para sua morte, porque não praticou violência nem houve engano em sua boca. E ao Senhor apraz purificá-lo da ferida. Se ele for oferecido pelo pecado, tua alma verá sua descendência prolongar-se em dias. E ao Senhor apraz livrar sua alma da dor, mostrar-lhe a luz e formá-lo com conhecimento, para justificar o justo que abundantemente serve a muitos. E ele carregará nossas iniquidades.

1And that the Spirit of prophecy might signify to us that He who suffers these things has an ineffable origin, and rules His enemies, He spake thus: "His generation who shall declare? because His life is cut off from the earth: for their transgressions He comes to death. And I will give the wicked for His burial, and the rich for His death; because He did no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth. And the Lord is pleased to cleanse Him from the stripe. If He be given for sin, your soul shall see His seed prolonged in days. And the Lord is pleased to deliver His soul from grief, to show Him light, and to form Him with knowledge, to justify the righteous who richly serveth many. And He shall bear our iniquities.

2Por isso herdará muitos e repartirá os despojos dos fortes, porque sua alma foi entregue à morte; ele foi contado entre os transgressores, carregou os pecados de muitos e foi entregue por suas transgressões." Ouvi também como, segundo a profecia, ele subiria ao céu. Foi dito assim: "Erguei as portas do céu; abri-vos, para que entre o Rei da glória. Quem é este Rei da glória? O Senhor, forte e poderoso." E como também viria novamente do céu com glória, ouvi o que a esse respeito disse o profeta Jeremias. Suas palavras são: "Eis que ele vem como Filho do homem nas nuvens do céu, e seus anjos com ele."

2Therefore He shall inherit many, and He shall divide the spoil of the strong; because His soul was delivered to death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sins of many, and He was delivered up for their transgressions." Hear, too, how He was to ascend into heaven according to prophecy. It was thus spoken: "Lift up the gates of heaven; be ye opened, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty." And how also He should come again out of heaven with glory, hear what was spoken in reference to this by the prophet Jeremiah. His words are: "Behold, as the Son of man He cometh in the clouds of heaven, and His angels with Him."
