Apócrifo de Ezequiel 5

1Ele era da terra de Sarira; e o príncipe do povo no lugar de sua estada em Babilônia o matou, porque fora por ele repreendido pela adoração de ídolos.

1He was of the land of Sarira; and the chief of the people in the place of his sojourn in Babylon slew him because he was rebuked by him for the worship of idols.

2Deu um sinal ao povo para que observassem o rio Quebar; se a sua água secasse, deveriam esperar a foice da desolação até os confins da terra; se a água transbordasse, isso significava o seu retorno a Jerusalém; e assim sucedeu.

2He gave a sign to the people that they should observe the river Chobar; if its water failed they were to expect the sickle of desolation to the ends of the earth; if the water overflowed, that signified their return to Jerusalem; and this happened.

3Ele está sepultado na terra dos sírios, e muitos recorriam ao seu túmulo em oração; e, por ocasião de tal afluência de judeus, os caldeus temeram uma revolta e tramaram vir massacrá-los, mas o profeta fez parar as águas do rio para que os israelitas pudessem atravessar e escapar, e os seus perseguidores foram afogados.

3He is buried in the land of the Syrians, and many resorted to his tomb in prayer; and upon the occasion of such a concourse of Jews, the Chaldeans feared a rising and plotted to come and slaughter them, but the prophet made the waters of the river stand, that the Israelites might cross it and escape, and their pursuers were drowned.

4Por sua oração, num tempo de fome, obteve para eles uma súbita e miraculosa provisão de peixes, e ressuscitou muitos que haviam morrido; e quando os inimigos os atacaram, impediu-os por meio de prodígios, e eles cessaram de molestá-los.

4By his prayer, in a time of famine, he procured them a sudden and miraculous supply of fish, and raised many to life who had died; and when their enemies attacked them, he obstructed them by portents and they ceased from troubling.

5Em Babilônia julgou as tribos de Dã e de Gade, que eram ímpias e perseguiam os observadores da Lei, e operou este milagre: que serpentes devorassem seus filhos e seu gado; e predisse que, por causa deles, o povo não retornaria a Jerusalém, mas permaneceria na Média até o fim da sua transgressão.

5In Babylon he judged the tribes of Dan and Gad, who were impious and persecuted the followers of the Law, and wrought this miracle, that serpents devoured their children and their cattle; and he predicted that on their account the people should not return to Jerusalem, but should be in Media until the end of their transgression.

6E foi arrastado pelos pés sobre os montes até que os seus miolos se despedaçassem, porque lhes resistiu até o dia da sua morte.

6And he was dragged by his feet upon the mountains until his brains were dashed out, because he withstood them until the day of his death.
