1Porém, [em grande ira] virou-se para a serpente e disse: Porquanto fizeste isto e te tornaste um vaso ingrato até enganares os corações inocentes, maldita és entre todos os animais.

1But he turned to the serpent [in great wrath] and said: "Since thou hast done this, and become a thankless vessel until thou hast deceived the innocent hearts, accursed art thou among all beasts.

2Serás desprovida do mantimento que comias e pó comerás todos os dias da tua vida; sobre o teu peito e sobre o teu ventre andarás, e serás privada de mãos e de pés. Não te restará orelha nem asa, nem membro algum de todos aqueles com que os enlaçaste na tua malícia e fizeste com que fossem lançados fora do paraíso; e porei inimizade entre ti e a semente dele: esta te ferirá a cabeça, e tu lhe ferirás o calcanhar até o dia do Juízo.

2Thou shalt be deprived of the victual of which thou didst eat and shalt feed on dust all the days of thy life: on thy breast and thy belly shalt thou walk and be robbed of hands and feet. There shall not be left thee ear nor wing, nor one limb of all that with which thou didst ensnare them in thy malice and causedst them to be cast out of paradise; and I will put enmity between thee and his seed: he shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel until the day of Judgement."
