Apocalipse de Esdras 3

1Assim diz o Senhor Todo-Poderoso: Quando estáveis no deserto, junto ao rio amargo, com sede e blasfemando contra meu nome.

1Thus says the Lord Almighty: When you were in the wilderness, by the bitter river, thirsty and blaspheming against my name.

2Não vos dei fogo para vossa blasfêmia, mas lancei madeira na água e tornei o rio doce.

2I did not give you fire for your blasphemy, but I threw wood into the water and made the river sweet.

3O que farei contigo, ó Jacó? Tu não quiseste obedecer, ó Judá.

3What shall I do with you, O Jacob? You would not obey, O Judah.

4Voltarei para outras nações e lhes darei meu nome, para que guardem meus estatutos.

4I will turn to other nations and give them my name, that they may keep my statutes.

5Porque me abandonastes, também eu vos abandonarei.

5Because you have forsaken me, I will also forsake you.

6Quando pedirdes misericórdia, não terei piedade.

6When you ask for mercy, I will not have pity.

7Quando me invocardes, não vos ouvirei.

7When you call upon me, I will not hear you.

8Manchastes vossas mãos com sangue, e vossos pés são velozes para cometer homicídio.

8You have stained your hands with blood, and your feet are swift to commit murder.

9Não é como se me tivésseis abandonado, mas a vós mesmos, diz o Senhor.

9It is not as if you have forsaken me, but yourselves, says the Lord.

10Assim diz o Senhor Todo-Poderoso: Não vos supliquei como um pai suplica a seus filhos?

10Thus says the Lord Almighty: Have I not pleaded with you as a father pleads with his children?

11Ou como uma mãe às suas filhas, ou uma ama às suas crianças?

11Or as a mother to her daughters, or a nurse to her children?

12Para que fôsseis meu povo e eu fosse vosso Deus?

12That you might be my people and I might be your God?

13E que fôsseis meus filhos e eu vosso Pai?

13And that you might be my children and I your Father?

14Eu vos reuni como uma galinha reúne seus pintinhos debaixo das asas.

14I gathered you as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings.

15Mas agora, o que farei convosco? Lançar-vos-ei de minha presença.

15But now, what shall I do with you? I will cast you from my presence.
