Amós 7

1O SENHOR DEUS assim me fez ver, e eis que ele formava gafanhotos no princípio do rebento da erva serôdia, e eis que era a erva serôdia depois de findas as ceifas do rei.

1Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, {it was} the latter growth after the king's mowings. {grasshoppers: or, green worms}

2E aconteceu que, tendo eles comido completamente a erva da terra, eu disse: Senhor DEUS, perdoa, rogo-te; quem levantará a Jacó? pois ele é pequeno.

2And it came to pass, {that} when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he {is} small. {by...: or, who of (or, for,) Jacob shall stand?}

3Então o Senhor se arrependeu disso. Não acontecerá, disse o Senhor.

3The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.

4Assim me mostrou o Senhor DEUS: Eis que o Senhor DEUS clamava, para contender com fogo; este consumiu o grande abismo, e também uma parte da terra.

4Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

5Então eu disse: Senhor Deus, cessa, eu te peço; quem levantará a Jacó? pois é pequeno.

5Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he {is} small. {by...: or, who of (or, for,) Jacob shall stand?}

6E o SENHOR se arrependeu disso. Nem isso acontecerá, disse o Senhor DEUS.

6The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

7Mostrou-me também assim: e eis que o Senhor estava sobre um muro, levantado a prumo; e tinha um prumo na sua mão.

7Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall {made} by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

8E o Senhor me disse: Que vês tu, Amós? E eu disse: Um prumo. Então disse o Senhor: Eis que eu porei o prumo no meio do meu povo Israel; nunca mais passarei por ele.

8And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

9Mas os altos de Isaque serão assolados, e destruídos os santuários de Israel; e levantar-me-ei com a espada contra a casa de Jeroboão.

9And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10Então Amazias, o sacerdote de Betel, mandou dizer a Jeroboão, rei de Israel: Amós tem conspirado contra ti, no meio da casa de Israel; a terra não poderá sofrer todas as suas palavras.

10Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

11Porque assim diz Amós: Jeroboão morrerá à espada, e Israel certamente será levado para fora da sua terra em cativeiro.

11For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

12Depois Amazias disse a Amós: Vai-te, ó vidente, e foge para a terra de Judá, e ali come o pão, e ali profetiza;

12Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

13Mas em Betel daqui por diante não profetizes mais, porque é o santuário do rei e casa real.

13But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it {is} the king's chapel, and it {is} the king's court. {chapel: or, sanctuary} {king's court: Heb. house of the kingdom}

14E respondeu Amós, dizendo a Amazias: Eu não sou profeta, nem filho de profeta, mas boiadeiro, e cultivador de sicômoros.

14Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I {was} no prophet, neither {was} I a prophet's son; but I {was} an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: {sycomore...: or, wild figs}

15Mas o Senhor me tirou de seguir o rebanho, e o Senhor me disse: Vai, e profetiza ao meu povo Israel.

15And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. {as...: Heb. from behind}

16Agora, pois, ouve a palavra do Senhor: Tu dizes: Não profetizes contra Israel, nem fales contra a casa de Isaque.

16Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not {thy word} against the house of Isaac.

17Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Tua mulher se prostituirá na cidade, e teus filhos e tuas filhas cairão à espada, e a tua terra será repartida a cordel, e tu morrerás na terra imunda, e Israel certamente será levado cativo para fora da sua terra.

17Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
