Amós 1

1As palavras de Amós, que estava entre os pastores de Tecoa, as quais viu a respeito de Israel, nos dias de Uzias, rei de Judá, e nos dias de Jeroboão, filho de Joás, rei de Israel, dois anos antes do terremoto.

1The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

2Ele disse: O Senhor bramará de Sião, e de Jerusalém fará ouvir a sua voz; os prados dos pastores prantearão, e secar-se-á o cume do Carmelo.

2And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

3Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Damasco, e por quatro, não retirarei o castigo, porque trilharam a Gileade com trilhos de ferro.

3Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: {and...: or, yea, for four} {turn...: or, convert it, or, let it be quiet}

4Por isso porei fogo à casa de Hazael, e ele consumirá os palácios de Ben-Hadade.

4But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

5E quebrarei o ferrolho de Damasco, e exterminarei o morador do vale de Áven, e ao que tem o cetro de Bete-Éden; e o povo da Síria será levado em cativeiro a Quir, diz o Senhor.

5I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD. {the plain...: or, Bikathaven} {the house...: or, Betheden}

6Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Gaza, e por quatro, não retirarei o castigo, porque levaram em cativeiro todos os cativos para os entregarem a Edom.

6Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver {them} up to Edom: {away captive...: or, them away with an entire}

7Por isso porei fogo ao muro de Gaza, e ele consumirá os seus palácios.

7But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

8E exterminarei o morador de Asdode, e o que tem o cetro de Ascalom, e tornarei a minha mão contra Ecrom; e o restante dos filisteus perecerá, diz o Senhor DEUS.

8And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

9Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Tiro, e por quatro, não retirarei o castigo, porque entregaram todos os cativos a Edom, e não se lembraram da aliança dos irmãos.

9Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant: {the brotherly...: Heb. the covenant of brethren}

10Por isso porei fogo ao muro de Tiro, e ele consumirá os seus palácios.

10But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

11Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Edom, e por quatro, não retirarei o castigo, porque perseguiu a seu irmão à espada, e aniquilou as suas misericórdias; e a sua ira despedaçou eternamente, e conservou a sua indignação para sempre.

11Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever: {did cast...: Heb. corrupted his compassions}

12Por isso porei fogo a Temã, e ele consumirá os palácios de Bozra.

12But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

13Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões dos filhos de Amom, e por quatro, não retirarei o castigo, porque fenderam o ventre às grávidas de Gileade, para dilatarem os seus termos.

13Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: {ripped...: or, divided the mountains}

14Por isso porei fogo ao muro de Rabá, e ele consumirá os seus palácios, com alarido no dia da batalha, com tempestade no dia da tormenta.

14But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

15E o seu rei irá para o cativeiro, ele e os seus príncipes juntamente, diz o Senhor.

15And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
